Why are they soooo into sports? It’s like a huge part of their life. If I start talking to a guy about football or basketball or cricket, its practically guaranteed that I will have his attention for the next hour or more. Sometimes I find it funny how they get all excited when discussng it. Makes me giggle.
What in the WORLD? Is it genetic? What is so fascinating about it? I used to be into football too, but I did not discuss it until the cows came home.
I accidently got into a conversation about football the other day with my neighbor. He wouldnt stop discussing it so I started making fun of his playing ability. (He plays football at school.) And then he got all serious and started defending himself and telling me I dont know anything about football. I happen to know plenty about football. It was loadsssssssssss of fun when I decided to pick on him. Then the conversation wasnt so boring. He teases me all da time, so I was just giving it back for once. grin
So, why are you guys sooo into sports? What do you get from it?
In the caveman days men used to go out and hunt. They huddled together discussing their many successful hunting experiences. They spent all day sitting in the fields thinking up strategies and traps until finally.....SCORE!!!! It's still the same today.
You know whats weird Munni, I follow cricket (Pakistan team only) but I do not have a single female friend who is into cricket as much as I am. Guy friends born in the West think its a fob game, and once when the India/Pak series was on, one of them sat thru a game just so he could spite me with India winning. He doesn’t care for the game on bit.
I don’t like football. I don’t know what’s so fascinating about it. Baseball is good though, as long as my home team is winning
According to Freud, man's basic drives are 2-- sex and aggression. These are the ones that influence all his thoughts and actions. Because through sex we procreate hence ensuring survival of the species, and agression allows man to eliminate enemies who might become a hindrance while spreading the love.
Since in today's civilized world, there are not very many ways to free oneself of the pent up aggression, man indulges in sports related activities-- by competing physically and trying to beat his opponent, the way in the past it was hunting/ survival of the fittest.
That is one way of looking at it. Freud's way.
Umm I guess the other would be...... thinking.... wth leave em alone : D
I myself am into football a bit but I agree guys do tend to get a tad fanatical. Maybe it's due to cultural/social mores, because it's definitely not with all guys.

Why do guys ALWAYS talk about sports?

Probably the same reason why women like to watch dramas, gossip, or talk about marriage and shopping all day. Its entertainment. In fact it goes further because its realtime entertainment, unpredictable and a real rush of adrenaline when watching your team play. Thats what makes it exciting and why we love it so much.
lolz good topic
as starsky said its entertainment women have theirz and men have theirz
or another reason could be that sports is mainly played by guys

I have always been a sports fanatic.Infact not so long ago I was addicted to it so badly that it effected my way of my life. When I was a kid I used to cry when my team or player would lose and virtually get depressed. From Imran Khan to Boris Becker I have worshiped them all.Sports is something that makes you want to be a part of a dream when you support a player or a team.. because you see a part of you in people you like, and you wanna see them win.
