Well, first of all obesity is rampant in the western world so there are much more chances of finding an overweight american lady than a desi one. Seriously how many 400 lbs desis do you know? This is not to say that desis are not fat, they are but the percentage is less than that of the western world.
Ghee!! The percentage of desis eating ghee cooked food in metropolitan areas is way down. Infact desi food is healthier than western food as its mostly home prepared and does not consist of a lot of processed food.
As for model pictures, the western world keeps saying how unhealthy it is to be an anorexic model. Infact Spain banned models who fell below a certain weight during fashion week. Lots of magazines (western ones) are showing models with a healthier figure even those magazines that never did that. Polls (western again) show that most men don't like stick thin figures. The model who's picture you posted is more likely to suffer from osteoprosis than her sister who has more meat on her. Shame on anyone wanting a woman to look like that!!
That said, everyone should aspire to be a healthy weight and excercise but mostly I have seen more western women fat than desis. Case in point ,all the plus size clothing companies that do a great business here, while its so hard to find them in Paksitan. I think its also as desis are shorter too and have more petite frames so maybe are more inclined to be thinner (like most chinese). Desis are even more obssesed with thinness esp teh young ones than westerners. Can you imagine a camapaign in Pakistan like what "Dove" in USA launched showing "real beauty" with all kinds of wome,n with all kinds of figures shown as models? It was well appreciated here but never would in Pakistan. Funny how we are the last to catch up? More western people are condemning the kind of models like the one you posted as a picture of health.
Last, yes these models do spend a lot of money on them to look like that. They have personal trainers to make them look like that who charge an arm and a leg, they have lots of cosmetic sugerey and have special chefs to cook for them. And they often go on unhealthy diets too. Plus they smoke and take drugs to kill teh appetite. Not a very healthy way of life!!!
