why do bad things happen to good people.

Two things seem to be bothering me.

It is written in the Quran : that Allah (Swt) will not burden you with more than you can handle. Yet there have been times when I have witnesses life events that have been unbearable. There was no choice but to bear the unbearable.

I know of someone who has been dealing with cancer with young kids. There is no one to really help. these people never hurt anyone. So why do bad things happen to good people that shake the foundation of their iman?

Re: why do bad things happen to good people.

Re: why do bad things happen to good people.

**Twinklestar **You must not dishearten yourself.

First of all we must accept the facts of life.

Anyone who is born will have to die. We all come into this word with expiry date and time confirmed.

From this no one has escaped.

It is clearly stated in the Blessed Quran that: “Every soul shall have taste of Death” ( 29:57)

And that life in this world is temporary and life in the Hereafter is forever as confirmed by the Blessed Book.

“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” **(Al-Ghafir :039) **

The life of the world is nothing but a game and a diversion. The abode of the hereafter—that is truly Life if they only knew. **(Surat al-'Ankabut: 64)
**

Allah Almighty has declared that He will test people you with fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits

Allah Almighty says in the Quran:

  • Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried: “When (will come) the help of Allah?” Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!* [Quran, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:214]

"Certainly, We shall test you with fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits; but give glad tidings to the patient - those who, when afflicted with calamity say, “Truly to Allah we belong, and truly to Him shall we return.” it is those who will be awarded blessings and mercy from their Lord; and it is those who are the guided ones." ** Al-Baqarah 2:155-157 ]**

And Allah Almighty the Most Merciful has already given us the good news of being awarded blessings and mercy from Himself those to bear the affliction with patience and submission to His Supreme Will.

Please read the following blessed sayings of the Blessed Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and in sha Allah this will firm your faith on very strong footing. In sha Allah.

The Blessed Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) who said: “Indeed amazing are the affairs of a believer! They are all for his benefit; If he is granted ease of living he is thankful; and this is best for him. And if he is afflicted with a hardship, he perseveres; and this is best or him." [Shaheeh Muslim]

Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said:* “The amount of reward is in accordance with the amount of suffering. When Allah (SWT) loves some people, He tries them (with affliction). He who then is content (with Allah’s decree) has achieved the acceptance (of Allah), and he who is dissatisfied (with Allah’s decree) will attain the anger (of Allah)*."** [Jami` at-Tirmidhi]**

'Atta Bin Rabaah reported that Ibn 'Abbaas (RA) told him, “Do you want to see a woman from the people of Jannah (paradise)?” He said “Yes”. He said: “It is this black woman. She came to the Prophet (SAW) saying, " I have (epileptic) seizures, and I get exposed, so supplicate to Allah for me." He (SAW) said: " If you wish, be patient and you will attain Jannah; or if you wish, I will ask Allah to cure you."

She replied, “I will be patient ! But my body gets exposed (because of the fall), so supplicate to Allah for me that I do not become exposed.” and he (SAW) did." [Bukharee and Muslim ]

Also we must learn from the life of the Blessed Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), keeping in mind his lofty station as the best of Creation of Allah Almighty and the most cherished by Allah Almighty.

The Blessed Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) lost his father before he was born.

When he was barely six years old when he faced the loss of another parent, his mother died.

And when he was only eight years old he lost his grandfather who loved him dearly.

He was blessed with 4 daughters and 2 sons, except for Lady Fatimah (may Allah Almighty be pleased with her) all died within his lifetime.

He bore all this with patience, perseverance and fortitude

May Allah Almighty give strength of Imaam to the one who is suffering from cancer to bear this suffering and pain with patience, perseverance and fortitude.

In sha Allah Allah Almighty will reward the one who is suffering from cancer with Allah Almighty’s Blessings and Mercy – And this is His Promise. And He always keeps His promise.

In sha Allah Allah Almighty will restore her to full health

Re: why do bad things happen to good people.

Because good people become better people through adversity…

Re: why do bad things happen to good people.

sometimes difficulties come upon people not to test them but to test those around them…
to see how well we stand up to support our family, friends and neighbours.

Re: why do bad things happen to good people.

Remember the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2999).
