Its not necessary. But if you want kids and a partner/confidant/close friend and a physical relationship than hopefully thats what it provides

I think i'd go with number 2. To be honest its really hard to tell, growing up in the culture we do with its social restrictions its difficult to know if you're doing something because thats what you're supposed to do or if its what you want to do. Other than the fact that it would be religiously wrong, I don't see why being in a relationship and being unmarried wouldn't work.
