To give NATO advise on how to curb terrorism inside Afghanistan so Pakistan can successfully counter the extremist elements along the border who regularly cross over from Afghanistan. Since NATO and Coalition forces are notorious for "friendly fire", it is the Pakistani forces that pay the price.
So, that is what he was there for. I ofcourse don't know that for sure. Do you?

kiyani went there to tell the president of the neighbourhood watch association of one mohalla in kabul, aka kharzai to shut the hell up because pak is not going to put up with fionger pointing to avoid showing kharzai's lack of control on his side of the border and on his drug lord buddies whose bumper crops somehow are funding taleban and alkayda

If you have noticed French President Sarkozy has also rushed to Afghanistan after 10 French soldiers were killed in Afghanistan. That may imply there is some hard-talk going on between the two sides as about the cause of the problem.

He might have been called by NATO to warn abt cross border missile strikes in Pakistan,or AFATA problems or He would have escaped from Pakistan to save himself from a `Mushy embarassment'............. ............................................. No official confirmation has come.so let's think........... :)

According to the AP bulletin, the Afghan leaders did not know of his visit BUT Pak military says the trip was arranged months ago! This means it was a meeting NATO called in short notice to hear first hand from Kiyani whether things were under control after Mushrraf quit.
But Karzai ofcourse didn’t miss the opportunity to rub it in !
Karzai stopped short of accusing Pakistan of official support for the insurgency but said, "If they are doing that in order to get strategic depth, it will not happen. It has been tried before. It failed. If they are doing that in order to have a puppet government, it will not happen, it will not work.
“If they are doing that to gain an upper hand against another of their neighbors,” Karzai said in a reference to Pakistan’s hostile relationship with India, “it won’t happen.”

If they are doing that in order to introduce deodorant in Kabul, it will not happen. It has been tried before. It failed. If they are doing that in order to have a puppet show like kaliyan in afghanistan, it will not happen, it will not work.
If they are doing that to win the next triathalon consiting of gulli danda, patang baazi and baraf paani, it won't happen.

I hope he was there to set the record straight that President has resigned due to his unpopular stance on the policies that included WOT. Now the game plan will NOT be the same, and retaliation will be fierce should the incursions continue into Pakistani territory, mistakenly or not. And that Karzai should zip it because he has no credentials to blame Pakistan when he couldn't even control his capital and Taliban raided and freed 500+ prisoners under his watch.

His trip to kabul was prearranged to accompany Nato ground commander to offshore invitation to visit HMS IBRAHIM LINCOLN carrier in the Indian Ocean to hold regional stretegic commander's meeting to discuss region's bileteral efforts to fight terrorism and cross border insurgents. Pakistan was asked to do more and use help from usa if needed.
