That is technically incorrect … God created woman from man … which means humanity as a whole was Created together. A separation took place and that separation was done at least at one level to provide us cohabitation/ company - mates; and a system of living with another.
The separation from the unit drives our natures to seek unity in each other … that is why we see ourselves as two halves of a whole … Living things made in pairs … Our desire is to be unified with each other which is symbolic of our need to be with God … this world is separation and our purpose is to seek safe return to our origin. Perhaps our separation in to genders shows our symbolic mission to unite and it demarcates us as created entities unlike - The One - The Unity - Nothing is Like Him.
