wahabis is a later and recent phenomenon ( last century?), and I don't think that there have been much conversion to Islam (in subcontinent) even by Sufis (current so called sufis urf sajjada nasheen are culprit to the core).

You know the Sufis I am talking of, not the current lot. Islam was not spread by the rulers of course.

Wahabbism seems to be a curse on Muslims as it's focused more on them as compared to non Muslims.

Its her personal view and she is not an authority on Islam or sufisim. Moreover, we don’t know in which context she said so.

Role of zinda sufis to influence non-muslims abruptly ended to large extent after British established their rule in subcontinent. Almost all gaddi nashin became agents of British Raj. While British rulers were very strict about Orthodox clergy and killed thousand of them after 1857 war. These aspects need to be examined closely to know why conversion of non-Muslims to Islam reduced to minimum besides increasing role of christian missionaries across sub-continent.

i am sorry, we may like it or hate it, but Islam spread when there was some flexibility plus soft image of the religion. We may call them as biddats nowadays. The hard core image being propagated by some quarters these days to purge Islam from innovations will only push people away. Keep an eye on Muslims becoming atheists in the coming decades let alone attracting non Muslims to the religion.

Atheism also flourished in India after independence not only among Muslims but also other religions. What could be the reason? RSS?

I am not sure about that. One thing is for sure RSS I believe didn't kill their own brethren. The same can't be said for salafi groups spreading Islam amongst Muslims these days.

I don't have an issue if someone preaches to have things removed/rectified or get their point through. But can't support violence to have your way. We have lost thousands in Pakistan, and in almost all of the Muslim world by groups which are supposedly doing this for propagation of Islam.
