For those of you who did not know, Akbar Said was an unemployed youth from the NWFP who assasinated Prime Minister Liaqat Ali Khan, one of the forerunners of the Pakistani Movement Bandwagon in Rawalpindi on Oct 16th, 51. The assasination took place in Rawalpindi’s Company bagh, which is now called Liaqat Bagh - just as the prime minister had begun to address a large public meeting. Akbar had positioned himself closely to the speaker’s dias and thus able to fire his pistol from a close range. He was himself shot and killed by the police, moments after the assasination. Saad Akbar left no clues as to the reason for his attack on the premier. He had arrived in Rawalpindi just a day before the assasination and stayed ina hotel. Being a resident of the twin cities, this question always arises in my head everytime I pass Company Bagh, which is now known as Liaqat Bagh. Why did Akbar Said do this? Was he linked to the Rawalpindi Conspiracy?

my guess would be , he might be just used by some powers against Liaqat Ali Khan. because he was un employed, he could have agreed to do this henious crime for some financial benefits for his family, this is just my hunch and lack of knowledge.
