In all honesty, there are a couple of reasons for this denial.

We look at the Mullahs, or pseudo-Mullahs who are accused of these terrorist acts and cannot believe that such illiterate & close minded people, who are accused of being brain washed at the madrassa down the road, can organize and then execute such an elaborate network of terrorism or orcastrate something like 9/11.

Then there is a group of people who go to Mosque and all they hear about is how good Islam & Muslims are. They try to do the same and cannot imagine someone who claims to follow the same teachings can carry out these actions.

Then we also have those who know Muslims in general are socially, politically and educationally years behind the world, especially the west. They also see China and India going ahead but Muslim nations getting deeper in conflicts. In frustration they want to get to the bottom of it, to find the responsible cause, someone to point finger at and like all human beings, it is anyone but them.

Ahmadjee, first two points make sense, however, third point needs a bit clarification. So are you saying that other Govts have never interfered in the affairs of muslim countries. Let me see, Bhutto, Zia, Shah Faisal, the other Shah (Pehalvi), Anwar Saddat…should I continue or you want to explain a bit more.
