We have so many talented people in Pakistan that are in the entertainment industry. If people like Mehdi Hassan, Moin Akhtar, Waheed Murad, Ahmed Rushdi, Lehri, Shaan etc belonged to another country they would have gotten immense wealth and fame. Our neighbouring country is a good example of that, some people there have even dedicated a temple for one of their celebrities. Now I’m not saying make then god but give them recognition and respect because I know how hard it is to spend 9 hours continually shooting or singing.
Legends of the yesteryears are now struggling to even pay their medical bills. That’s really the sad part and Mehdi Hassan is a good example of that. Even only now Waheed Murad received recognition (Sitara e Imtiaz) for his great contribution to the film industry. 27 years after his death.
Also in other countries if a child told his parents that I want to go into movies or singing the parents would be happy with that. Here some parents would kick you out of the house.
What bothers me is when they give someone sitare-imtiaz, recognition award, tribute etc etc after that person has passed away. bhayee us bechare/bechari ki zindagi main yeh awards/tribute do takay woh bhi khush ho aur soche ke usne waqayi acha kaam kiya hai jo yeh award/tribute mil raha hai.
There are sooo many realities/rumours about the film/showiz industry which makes one scared and has put the image of it down. i personally dont mind if my kids wanna be a part of the showbiz line as long as they can differentiate between whats good and whats bad.

Friend, in India the entertainment is really an Industry, and it earns and adds revenue to the country's income along with all the artists paying back the income taxes, just recently i saw the news that Akshay Kumar is the artist who pays the most highest income tax return that is 30 Crore Indian Rs. in his country the income tax ppl and CBI ppl trace down and keep track of highly paid people and artists when it comes to tax returns. I don't think we can expect that from our artists or NAB or Income Tax ppl. Only the commoners are forced to pay taxes, even our ministers and politicians show such hilarious and ridiculous property figures that it makes one think that they are even more poorer then a common Pakistani.
It sure is a fact that our artists when they become seniors and have no source of income and even their children are not earning much they are neglected and forgotten. For this Faisal Qureshi along with other artists are doing a very good job by running the Artists Welfare Association of Pakistan. I hope all the artists in our industry would contribute to his nobel cause.
