I am confused or maybe i am not but i am curious to know …
WHY most of the people, even those i feel who are not unintelligent, think they should behave a different way during Ramadan? I can understand if someone is taking a new begining with this month and adopting better habbits with the intentions of keeping up with them for all the time to come. However i see people just wanting to adopt these good habbits only for this month and they have every plan to get back to the old ways, so why bother?
It’s like i won’t be watching movies or listening to music this month but it wl perhaps be the very first thing they get back to after the last roza. I don’t see the logic in it? Do you?
And it doesnt end here, it continues on for prayers too and generally how they are giving to people but all this takes a low after Ramadan.
Its better to quit behooda habits at least for a month then to continue them for a whole year. There is a good chance that if they quit, they may never pick them back. If they dont quit even in Ramadhan that they have zero chance of becoming a good muslim.
Peace,
**Book ‘Fasting’ of Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 123
** Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”
I think in this month, we works on ourself spiritually and physically to build inner us a good character. If we wanna start over freshly then this is the right month to start. In this month, we try to avoid bad habbits as many as we can and to offer our prayers (including Nafals, Tahajud Namaz) more then normal days espcially in last 10 days of ramzan. Moreover, we try to not give-up from it after ramzan too. We read Qur’an whenever we get free time rather then watching TV or listening to the music etc., We try to give more and more charity, send iftari to neighbours either we know them or not. Such act creates strong relations of brotherhood. We try to help the needy and don’t talk too much (avoid talking bad) Whenver we in group of two or more, we start talking about fasting and this dicussion automatically take us to disucssion of Fazail-e-Ramzan or any other religious talk/point. Such talks/discussion refresh our Iman and incease our ‘Takwa’. In short this month is with full of blessing and Mercy of Allah SWT.
Allah SWT hum sb pr ramzan ke ba-barkat mahinay ki rahmat nazal farmain Ameen.
If they have every intention of going back to the same habbits post Ramadan, how is it any better? I can understand if its someone who atleast hopes to be able to keep up with them. So what you quoted, i agree with it.
in our society........the observing of Ramadan is a cultural practice/custom.........people are either not aware of or choose to ignore the religious significance and reasons for this month.......
just like anyother cultural custom or practice........ramadan is like that......
