Re: Why are you so racist/prejudice?
I was browsing through an online forum for Bengalis, and read some threads on how they feel Pakistanis look down on them, primarily because they're darker-skinned. I wanted to post there and tell them hey I'm Pakistani and I don't look on Bengali people, but I know that I'm just one person and what they were saying was probably the reality, generally speaking. =\
Re: Why are you so racist/prejudice?
Im not a racist or prejudiced person Alhamdolillah. Though i come across so many and really wonder seeing the diversity. This thing isnt restricted to one group or part of the world at all. you ll find all kinds of them every where around you. Kehen goray aor kalay ka jhagra to kahen zaat paat ki division. But the most despicable it happens to be when you see really a sophisticated and parha likha person doing so. I mean being horribly indulged in this racism stuff. Shows such a hollow part of urs.

Wow, others don't look down upon them, you don't even look at them at all!
Just kidding. As someone said, we were physically freed (really?) in 1947 but still follow the norms and practices of the dark ages. It's a shame that most people's mentality doesn't go beyond the skin color. They completely ignore how good a person may be or how talented he/she may be, but if the skin color is not light, that's enough for some to even not talk to them. When mothers go out looking for rishtas for their studs, they always want "chaand jaisi bahu" and nothing less.
Re: Why are you so racist/prejudice?
I was watching Operah and she said Indian people spend close to $100million a year on skin-lightening products. (I'm sure Pakistan + Bengladesh aren't far behind).
Re: Why are you so racist/prejudice?
^^^ Nope they wouldn't be far behind at all.
I just get really annoyed at those pathetic pakistani ads that come on TV, regarding skin-lightning product.. they are soo stupid, they make my skin crawl. Skin colour does not make any difference to beauty - I wish some people would seriously educate themselves & just be real.
My mum is of this mentality, that fairer is more beautiful. I've had many arguments with her over it, but even though she knows it's wrong, she still has this mentality. I'm not sure how much education would help people to change their mindsets, it depends more on how you are bought up, what you see around you and so on i think.
So lets progress this further a bit. Do the people in Pakistan notice a change in this attitude at all? Is there ANY change at all? I'm thinking that the rich folks may have developed politically correct attitudes towards racism due to western influence in their homes, but then again they are a minority by all means and don't represent pakistan per se.
Any constructive input frmo anyone.
