i checked th other day, qatar airways for 1 adult, 1 infant and 1child…and it was 1300 pounds apprix, now few days later its 1520 pounds…whats going on…im looking to book end of march until aug next yr, so is it wise to book now or will it get more expensive later, say if i booked in jan/feb…all worrying.plus the ruppee keeps depreicating, its now 151 rp to the pound. going from peshawar to heathrow. so can someone adivse me wether its best to book now or later. thanks.

price differences are more seasonal than about booking now vs. 3 weeks before etc. if you have a decent travel agent.

this year the prices are way higher. last Feb i traveled to India and i paid $1000 on Etihad...i'm gonna travel to India next month and i'm trying to get similar fares but the lowest i got is $1300 on Jet Airways...this year the median is $1500 as oppsed to last yeard $1200...a hefty $300 difference per ticket. it all adds up!
the best bet is that you must be flexible in your dates of travel, you must also be able to travel to/from nearby cities...it's often cheaper.
another tip:
do NOT try to purchase tickets too far in advance...most deals come within a month of your travel date.

From what I've heard, tickets are usually cheaper in the winter.

you can, but like i said its very exp. and husbands saying wait til a month or so before, but im worried about prices. what if i book now and its cheaper in jan/feb time..i dont think end or march is seasonal is it??:?

yes i did. thanks. but i want to go on qatar airways-reason being, Doha airport, i know like the bac of my hand. its shorter to the gates, and il have 2 toddlers with me. just want an easy ride not emirates or whatever where duabi airport is way toooooo big for me to handle 2 kids on my own plus possibly a hand luggage too, so qatar is best for me.and you say deals...do they really do deals? A MONTH BEFORE. from pak to uk......are u sure?

Where is the UK crowd? They probably should know the answer. As queer stated - iprices are seasonal all other things being the same. As for oil prices, impossible to plan for that. Crude is at $100/barrel give or take. In 2007 if I recall it was about 130?/barrell? while in March 2009, it probably dipped to $45-55/barrell? Impossible to predict movement. So best to look at seasonanlity. March does not seem to peak seasn for travel between Pak-UK (fequent travelers should answer this). As for best deal available 1 month before - I have no diea about thiat. Buying now (to me) seems best option.

fair enuf...if you have ONLY ONE airline to fly with, be prepared to pay a much higher fare. if you buy your fare online then 12- month prior to travel date is a safe bet to get a better deal. if you buy from the bucket shops in Pakistan, you will end up paying a lot more in fare no matter how much in advance you buy your ticket. some unscrupulous agents try to sell higher fare because they are paid more in commission.
so, buyers beware!
