^ every relationship would not end in pregnancy if children were not encouraged to have sex in the first place. giving out condoms to children of school age is the same as saying ‘hey go ahead and have sex!’ yes of course there will be those who have sex regardless of what they are told but if teachers and school nurses handing out condoms is not encouragement then i don’t know what is. if so many options were not available to children in forms of contraception and abortion then less children would be having sex. as for those who fall pregnant, they wouldn’t be getting themselves into that situation if they weren’t comfortable in the knowledge that tax payers would be footing the bill.

as to ur second point what has it got to do with this discussion?

ummmmm, every year the uni will have health fare, where along with information about mono and hepatitis, they’ll hand out free condoms. as far as i know, i still haven’t had intercourse. in high school there was sex ed. again, i never had the inclination to grab a random guy and do it. it had nothing to do with religion, as you say. it had more to do with my own credibility and how i know its so stupid to have sex and then get pregnant at that age.

contraception, like condoms is GOOD. it keeps you away from nasty diseases like syphilis, gonorrhea and AIDS. like SGC said, kids are going to do it anyways (and reasons for it are not as simple as you present it), so why not protect them? why not make it so they DON’T have to get pregnant at 14.

but even with sex ed, even with free condoms, the reality is, that there are unwanted pregnancies at a very young age. so where’s the fault? where did society eff up?

^ that’s not condeming english culture. all i said was teen pregnancies are becoming more accepted as a result of modern society which does not view religion as being very important. please read carefully and understand before getting all jumped up. anyway i don’t want to derail this thread any further so lets just agree to disagree

because kids are not being educated about sex…and that includes the use of condoms and other protection. I agree, teens are having sex too young. We bombarde them with sexy images of men and women, hypersexualized ideas of what a teen should be. All that, and then we complain that nurses are handing out condoms and teachers are giving sex ed classes?? Does not make sense. We should be complaining about the first thing: corporations that teenagers ideas about sexiness, the pressure women feel to fit inot a certain mold, low self esteem in both boy and girl teens…all things that lead them to have sex at a younger age.
Personally, if I had a daughter or son growing up in this age and day, I would want them to have access to these resources…if they decide to have sex, at least they will be prepared and SAFE.

the answer is in nina’s post. it’s the overly sexualizing of everything. clothes for 5 year old girls are just frilly or cute, they have to be sexy. 10 year olds want boobs. 15 year olds are wearing the sluttiest clothes, marketed for htem, which a 26 year old would not even be caught dead in. their role models are britney spear, miley cyrus, that girl from high school musical whose naked cell phone pictures are plastered all over the internet.

religion has nothing to do with it. no one is religion anymore either. go to pakistan, and no one follows religion. its evident in the clothes that people wear. this is media. this is the global culture. this is LACK OF EDUCATION. if you are uneducated about sex ed, all you’re going to know is that sex is good. but you will not know the serious and sometimes horrible consequences of doing it.
