Are some people just born with greater equipment than others?

But also note achievements/discoveries/innovations have hardly to do any things with smartness.
Its ppl who can take pain, don't back off and are junooni.

I do highly recommend Gladwell's book and the Scientific American article I've mentioned below.
My personal experience is also in line with this – there are different types of challenges in various disciplines – analytical thinking and problem solving approaches are relevant in mathematical as well as social sciences.
Also, there’s ample research to show that aptitude and genius are often overrated, and even people with superior mental capacities experience high levels of neuronal activities, and that practice and experience contribute more to success than just being smart.

It's both, and its all relative. Intelligence is something that needs to be maintained and nurtured, a child that has potential to be intelligent may never reach his/her max because of external circumstances. Others who do get the chance, but don't care for it, will never reach their full potential either.
I think it's about how much drive you have, and how much you're willing to work for it.

Up to certain level, its a little from column A and a little from column B but if you are talking about Einstiens and Stephen Hawkings, I think they must be born with sharper skills than the normal people.
A lot of people say intelligence is down to genes, don't believe the hype that everybody is born equal.

I do not think people differe in terms of briloianc or smartness,whatever you call it, at birth.But events,stituations and their surroundings shape it.
