If they allow the border to be fenced or walled, it would mean a tacit acceptance of the durrand line as the permanent border... Thats something they would never allow even at the expense of allowing terrorists to cross back and forth...
Also, seperating tribal groups would mean accepting that these groups belong to seperate countries... It would mean the seperation of tribes and pushtoon people in general, even if only symbolic.
I for one think the durrand line shouldnt seperate tribes, but nor should it be ignored either. It has to be accepted as an international border by Afghans, otherwise there will always be conflict between the two countries.
But if Karzai truly wants to stop terrorists from crossing freely, he will have to decide whats more important, Pustoon nationalism or the well being and stability of his country. Although such a fence or wall wouldnt need to be permanent, it would only exist so long as there is a need for it...

^^ I agree. They were the only one against Pakistan at UN in 1947 so much for moin's islamic / muslim brotherhood. They [afghans] are what you say jis me khana ussi me chaid karna as many of them now *****ing in the west against pakistan grew up in pakistan as refugees [paid zero taxes as refugees].

When Taliban were in power, we didnt need even 1 soldier on the Afghan-Pak border. Now we have to keep 100000+ soldiers in that area. India should be really happy.

There should not be any border between Afghanistan and Pakistan- India doesn't have any border between her and Nepal because she thinks Nepal is India's little Hindu brother. We should have no border too. Afghans refugees leaving Iran(what else can you expect from faltu Iran) should all be repatriated in Pakistan and every Pakistan should contribute money towards their resettlement.

at the same time the pakistanis stranded in bangladesh need to be repatriated, u know muslim brothers and all. since u are volunteering for punjab and punjabis, I guess the funds should be raised in punjab to settle them in punjab.

Punjab is full and a lot of cities in Punjab need funds. It would be best to repatriate them in Sindh and Balochistan- there's a lot of unpopulated land in these two states Plus Karachi has lot of resources. We CANNOT repatriate Biharis who are now in Bangladesh in Pakistan- they should become loyal citizens of Bangladesh- its also in their best interest. All we can do with Biharis in Bangladesh is to tell thanks to them and wish them luck!

Modern Afghani intellectuals 1947-onwards are living in socialist-tribal fantasy world akin to someone smoking historical-hashish (much more deadlier than the ordinary hashish so common in Afghanistan).
Thanks to this historical Hashish, Afghanis suffer from delusions of grand-iose just because some warlord was able to run amok in Indian subcontinent some 300 years ago.
Right now Afghani populace decimated by years of war and warlordism is dying like little flies, and still in the dusty hallways of "Grand Palace" the mayor of Kabul speaks like hollowed out baja (pipe) from years gone by.
Afghanistan's budget (if you can call it a a budget) is hardly matchable to a small city of Pakistan, and yet the Afghanis refuse to play nice with Pakistan.
May be it is tribal mentality, or may be it is "Russi jal gai, per bul nahi giya" (A beggar's dog barks as if he is king".
I guess sometimes a donkey must die while carrying tones of historical baggage. Sad so sad!
