I am assuming that muqawwee is referring to the non fiction writers.

I guess l that like many other art forms, creative writing starts as a talent than a skill. At the initial stages, a writer only uses it as a media to express his thoughts. Later, it could turn into a way of making money if his/her talent is appealing to the public.

i read a statement of a writer (can't remember his name) and i think most of the writers say similar to that statement, "The act of writing for me is a concentrated form of thought. If I don’t enter that particular level of concentration, the chances are that certain ideas never reach any level of fruition.”
