As we aware majority in Pakistan thinks if their sister/daughter completed matric than that is enough for them. I wonder why they don’t let them continue for higher studies? And if by chance anyone completed 12th standard, they don’t know what to do next I mean which field subject they choose nor someone guides them.
This phenomenon has lost steam over the years. Now people do care about the education of their female relatives which is a good omen for Pakistan. But I think if you go back by a decade or so, it was definitely a norm in Pakistan.
What we need right now are more industries. The current economy fails to accommodate the grads being currently produced by universities. The economy needs to be resuscitated, before we think of pumping out more grads.
A High School degree is enough for majority of the population, cause what would be the point of everyone having a Bachelors or Masters degree. The only people who going to college should be the ones who are highly motivated.
I am baffled by the number of people that believe women don't need to study beyond matric if they are going to be housewives......
And I am encouraged by those that seek out college/uni-educated women as partners simply for the fact that they want their children to have a rich environment in which to grow up in.....
What I have seen there are two groups (1) who r not very well educated and prefer 10th is enough for their ladies and (2) who r highly educated and motivate others for high education. But none from these two groups ask/suggest each others to seek higher education.
I was in Pakistan recently and observed that majority of people wants their children educated, irrespective of their gender. So it is a healthy change. I met a few guys who got their kids admitted to top schools and almost all of their salaries were going in fees. My impression is that gender inequality in education is diminishing fast in Pakistan.
Thats a great news the majority of pplz wants their children educated and I think the Ministry of Education will take necessary steps to increase the standard of teaching. But in Govt school, i'm against beating a student.
