Re: wht would u do?
Listen...cousin or not, do you WANT to spend the rest of your life with this guy? Do you know him, what he wants in a wife, what he wants out of life and does it jive with what YOU want? Those are the important questions.
Marrying a cousin does indeed increase your chances of troubles with children - but its like an increase of like 1 percent - depending upon how much intermarriage has taken place. The more intermarriage, the greater the chance of troubles. Take your intended to see a genetic specialist and they can map it all out for you and give you exact percentages for troubles in under 2 hours. Even so, marrying out of your own family line is no guarantee of a perfect child. When you plan to have children, be prepared to accept whatever child God/Allah gives you. Perfect or not, ANY child is nothing but the purest and best blessing. Just be sure you're marrying the one thats right for you.

Re: wht would u do?
There is nothing wrong with marrying a cousin. Knowing a person or not is totally separate debate...which falls under arranged marriage or not.
Re: wht would u do?
^lekin wht is arrange marriage then?

suker allah ka ke aaj kalpak mein mom dads apne bachoo ko fasle ka haq dete hein
Re: wht would u do?
Im too close to my cousins....I always called em brothers.
Its out of the question, simply not me.
There were cousins sending their rishta, but knowing all about them,
isnt always a bliss, ya know......
Arranged or love, gotta have at least one official meeting, talk face to face.
Its akward and at times embaressing, especially when you know its not it....
"Bacht" is another word for kizmat in farsi. I think, its all about a girl having bacht or not.
Re: wht would u do?
in answer to your questions Ms Kuri, when you go to a genetic specialist, there are no tests involved. You are each asked a series of questions regarding family history, family health issues, any intermarriages etc. It takes a bit over an hour. Then they go compute your "odds" and either have a sit-down with you right then or they call you back in to tell you. Once you conceive, there are tests that can determine whether there are certain genetic maladies (ie., down syndrome) but that in no way tells you whether theres autism, ADHD etc. I looked into these tests once I conceived and found no big Islaamic objection to having the tests done. The issue becomes less clear if/when theres a clearly troubled fetus. I think theres a time limit to abort and (I think) its prior to the second trimester. Theres a genetic test called CVS (Chorionic Villi Sampling) which provides the same results as amniocentesis but can be performed at week 11 instead of week 18. Its a bit more risky (2 percent chance of miscarriage as opposed to 1 percent with amnio) but the chances improve to better than amnio when you go to a really experienced doc. Anyway, whether you decide to test or not, I've always felt it better to be prepared and know whats coming yeah?
ANYhoo...I wish you the very best with the man who (sounds like) loves you very much!
