Great choices you guys:)
waisay when comes to classic indian melodies Talat mehmood and Haimant kumar come to my mind ... both have left some great n memorable songs!
Hey Maharaja....my sentiments exactly. Talat Mehmood and Hemant Kumar have been my favorites too. That was in the time when good films were made.
Too bad things have changed !
:-(
I would put Talat at almost same level as Mukesh, maybe Talat was little better. Neither had the range of kishore or Rafi. But both have great songs to their credit.
Hemantkumar, yup. 'Tum pukaar lo.. tumhara intazaar hain..' easily comes to mind. A very good music director too. Better than most we have now.
my favourite would be 'na yeh chand hoga' or 'ye nayan dare dare'
As music director my favourite are songs of 'Khamoshi' (old one) that include 'humne dekhi hai ein aankho ki mehakati khushboo', 'tum pukar lo' and 'vo sham kuch ajeeb thi'.
My favorite Talat song would be "Itna na mujhse tu pyar badhaa". The song seems to be "inspired" (meaning plagiarised) from one of Beethoven's symphanies, but it was sung really well by Talat.
As far as hemant Kumar goes ---- "Jaane woh kaise log the jinke" and "Hai apna dil to aawara" are one of my favorites.
Namra By the way you are the second person I have seen (with that name) spelt correctly. People often insist that its Nimra or other bizarre spellings and they pronounce it all wrong too. I agree with your spelling (if that is your real name).
