Who's releasing the terrorists ....

On one hand this tinpot dictator blames Supreme Court was thwarting government’s efforts (what efforts?) to fight terrorism by ordering release of extremists, terrorists & suicide bombers but on other hand he is busy making deals with the same condemned elements to secure the release of a bunch of cowards in uniform. How sweet !!

TANK, Nov 3: Armed forces personnel held hostage by militants in South Waziristan since Aug 30 are likely to be released on Sunday amid reports of a deal between the government and militants.

Well-placed sources told Dawn that the government would free 25 militants.

Eight officers were among the hostages. Militants have already released 31 soldiers while three were killed.

Former MNA Maulvi Mirajuddin described the talks held with Baitullah Mehsud’s men as successful and said the release of all hostages was expected by Sunday.

The sources said that Maulvi Nek Zaman and Maulana Assamuddin held talks with the militants on Saturday to finalise the deal.

Political authorities will convene a jirga of the Mehsud tribe in Saam area on Sunday morning. **Sources said the government had agreed to hand over 25 militants to the jirga, while Baitullah Mehsud would release all the hostages.

The sources said that seven suspects arrested on charges of organising suicide bombings had been taken from a prison in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday to some other place, while 18 other suspects were shifted from Islamabad.**

A senior official told Dawn in Peshawar that under the deal, the Sararogha peace agreement between the government and militants would be implemented, adding that Baitullah had assured his full support for peace efforts in the region.

“The government will get the soldiers released on Sunday and some of their (militants) people will also be released,” the official said.

The sources also said that Baitullah Mehsud had given an assurance that all foreigners would be expelled from the area and the process would be completed before Eid.

Re: Who's releasing the terrorists ....

Anti-Pak generals of Army are using excuses to justify their mad rush against the rule of Law in Pak.
It is the incompetence of those generals that our jawans are getting killed in NWFP.

Actual purpose of all this drama was to stop the Courts against their unlawful rule in Pak.

Re: Who's releasing the terrorists ....

slap on the face of petty dictator - the biggest hypocrite of all time. Accusing Supreme Court of interferring in government's efforts to tackle the menace of terrorism but shamelessly making deals same day with terrorists - literally this guy has no shame, no character & no morals.

Govt frees 25 militants in exchange for 213 hostages

By Alamgir Bhittani

TANK, Nov 4: The government on Sunday freed 25 militants in exchange for the release of 213 army personnel who were held hostage in South Waziristan for more than two months.

Military spokesperson Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad confirmed that 211 soldiers had been released and said that 25 militants who had been arrested under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) were also freed. Some of the freed militants had been convicted by an anti-terrorism court.

“I can’t say anything about the physical condition of soldiers at this moment, but there will be a debriefing session and medical check-up of all the released soldiers,” he told Dawn by phone from Islamabad.

He said that 211 soldiers were released on Sunday while two had been freed on Saturday.

Sources said that militants had brought 213 soldiers to Tiarza Khula, a remote area in South Waziristan, and handed them over to tribal elders. The military authorities brought the 25 militants in two helicopters to the brigade headquarters in Zari Noor colony near Wana. They were later taken to Tiarza Khula for the swap.

The sources said that seven militants had been released from the central jail in Dera Ismail Khan and 18 had been brought from Islamabad.

Zulfiqar Mehsud, spokesman for Baitullah Mehsud, and his deputy Fakher Alam Mehsud handed over the soldiers to a jirga headed by former MNA Maulvi Mirajuddin.

Militants had on Aug 30 kidnapped 247 army personnel, including eight officers, in the Momi Karam area of South Waziristan. Later, 31 soldiers were released and three were shot dead. The sources said that militants had returned weapons, vehicles and communication equipment captured from the military personnel.

Mr Mirajuddin, who brokered the deal, said that issue had been resolved amicably and the two sides agreed to implement the Sararogha peace accord in letter and spirit.

Sources in Peshawar told Dawn that the NWFP government had also withdrawn seven terrorism cases pending before the anti-terrorism court in Dera Ismail Khan against some of the arrested militants.

Re: Who's releasing the terrorists ....

Yes he's a two-faced power-crazy despot. His days could be numbered.

Re: Who's releasing the terrorists ....

could be?! i have a feeling they ARE. history tends to repeat itself. :( it's a shame that even he didn't learn anything from the past, yet he calls himself the best version of a military man stepping into politics. I think not! it's the opposite rather. i liked this guy when he came into power because he was a beacon of hope, he did a lotta good things in the beginning, but somewhere enroute to all that progress, he became a politician, and not a leader anymore.
