OK i’ve just finished my latest study into the entire history and evolution of Terrorism.
I’ve gone right back into history to the very origins of this most destructive of social phenomena, and have found the facts at times astonishing and disturbing… however i found it most important and relevant a topic to study in depth becuase as we all know this is probably the biggest menace of our times.
However one of the things i’ve found is a distinct difference between various types of terrorist and extremist groups. Whats more suprising is that we may have to have a very close look at the definition of terrorism itself.
Now among the things i have found one of them is of startling relevance to my homeland Pakistan. There is a common saying that one mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter… however what a lot of them overlook is the phenomena of an altogether shocking entity… beides the conventionally accepted form of terrorism.
That is the Death squad. Pakistan doesn’t actually face a threat anywhere as near what the politicians would have us believe, the real culprits it seems are the almost invisible killers the…Death sqauds. They are responsible for more killings actually than terrosim itself.
And whats most disturbing is that death squads are state sponsored
be it by inner or outer states, terrorism has always been part of human history but death squads are easy to overlook.
However i think they should be closely analyzed becuase Pakistan seems to suffer from its own hidden legions of roaming death squads, more die in these actions than from terrorism itself but becuase there is less media coverage we dont hear of it as much.
Do you think Pakistan has death squads in operation? Are they a bigger problem than terrorist threat? Afterall death squads are a form of state sponsored terrorism and contrary to what you might think they kill more people and are a bigger problem in themselves.
I’m intrigued by this becuase i am sure Pakistan has many areas that have been suffering from what must be quite obviously death squad activity… the question is who are they and where have they come from?
I have my own ideas on this one but i’d like to hear what you guys think first.
What do you mean Death Squad?
You forget to mention state terrorism which I belieev is the biggest form of terrorism. Pakistan is a sponsor of state terrorism and also a victim of it - when you look at it from a neutral point of view.
Re: Who's our enemy???... really!??
Death squads are a state form of terrorism, however they work like police forces... one could say many Pak goverment officials employ death squads.
USA also uses death squads extensively, for example so called security firms like blackwater etc. Also if you look at it its a global problem much worse than terrorism. Death squads operate in many south American states where the US goverment deliberately arms and trains them to quell and spread fear among foriegn goverments and to control, communist forces.
Death squads are also operating in Iraq and Afghanistan. Basically everywhere where there is no law and order... death squads are often better armed than millitias too becuase they have extensive weapons and access to them.
They also eliminate political activists and rivals unfavourable to the status qoue. However despite the apparent mass of evidence few people really understand the problem and many goverments deny it is a problem. However there is evidence that death squads are used in Pakistan both by the goverment and outside forces.
My question is primarily what we Pakistani's make of it? Are they a danger and are they out there? If so what can and should be done to stop it?

Death Squads are formed out of necessity, they are there from 1000s of years and shall exist till there is govt of any sort on this planet.
Pakistan is a victim of the death squads, we have lost leaders like Liaqat Ali Khan to these squads ( we have lost others too like Zia and BB but they are not that important to be discussed)
In Pakistan, we face different kind of war-game, we have plenty enemies and dilemma is that we die to friends with those enemies and in that process, we go way out of our ways to get to something which is not there... the friendship and peace.
These enemy states of Pakistan do support and send their death squads, Pakistan willingly or unwillingly have to reply, the stronger the reply the lesser the foreign sponsored death squads in Pakistan...
Although it is pretty common to blame the "outsiders" for the ills in a family/country/company,
BUT
The reality is that
ROT STARTS FROM INSIDE.
It could be mild in the form of minor differences in the vision of future
OR
it could be extremely destructive in the form of Islamism and tribalism that forgets that Pakistan must be priority #1 for any solution to work in the country.
And in our case, we cannot blame anyone else but our own extremist approach to Pakistani and international problems.

Re: Who's our enemy???... really!??
Yes any chor, dakoo, thug etc. can accuse the police officer as a "state terrorist". Good try by the chor, but it won't cut it.
