I've just been to Istanbul Airport a few times on my way to Pakistan.
There have been a few blasts every now and then, but generally there shouldn't really be a security issue in Turkey.

The only thing u need to be worried about is the market stall holders who keep trying to get you to buy stuff from them it gets annoying after a while :)

Been to Istanbul and it was ggod. Grand bazar is more like pakistani style bargains otherwise loved it.

i have been to istanbul, iznik and bursa recently...its a wonderful place...its a bit expensive; ppl dont understand english and they the shopkeepers try to rob u, but u can always bargain...over and all, its a nice place to visit...btw, take my advice, visit Antalya rather than istanbul...

Yes, istanbul, chanakala, pamakala, looped around through antalya, saw rumi's tomb, the underground cities and more...
Very safe. The usual ills of travel and people trying to rip off toursit but easy to get around. I would recomend you use some of the guide books like lonely planet or rough guide...great ways to explore.
