Just go to http://maps.google.com switch to hybrid and look at the major Indian cities.
Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore, Hyderabad all have road names and stuff written on the maps.
If you look at Karachi in google maps, it looks very nicely organized and well planned. Ofcourse ground situation looks different

as a matter of fact an Indian Satellite (Cartoset) mapped whole country in 3D image . so every building, tree, farm is there in 3D form at the planner's disposal .
rumors has it that cartoset also mapped the neighbours too :D

Yea Karachi looks real nice and tidy on Google Maps. :D Even DC's streets aren't that straightly aligned.
