To be contrary, I think the last one is quite possible.
Perhaps the jigsaw-piece island already existed to begin with, and either a new lake was carved out on the bigger island in the form of a uniform jigsaw shape, or an existing lake was amended to give it that unique shape. (tourist spot?)
