well your question is open ended. i will not discriminate anyone on sole reason of age. but if you are asking in term of friendship then it is not all about age but similar interests/mindsets/mutual values/etc, which allows one to interact with other comfortably. and mostly it is easier to get with people of same age. so i will say it is not objective but a subjective matter.

At my work, I come across all those options that you've listed...and I can manage to talk to all of them. Some I find more interesting (click better with) than others.
