Have we lost all love and respect for our scholars? Why do we not turn to our scholars for the problems we face day to day. Not just issues of namaz, roza, hajj and zakat but all other social, economic, family..etc
Why is it that today we turn to our friends OR strangers (online) for advices for the most sensitive of matters (ie divorce, abortion, marriage..) Why do we not turn to the learned men? If we have firm yakeen that Allah is the ONLY One who solves all our problems and His deen is the only way we accept, then WHY do we turn to non-Muslims and Muslim laymen for solutions?

i've always thought that bringing up a matter in front of a friend or online @ forum simply mean discussion , just to know what majority has to say and to relate with others who're in the same boat. However if people blindly follow what others say ,without even refering to islamic teachings regarding that matter than that means they're ignorant.

You be surprised to find out that the advice of friends/family is all they need to make a decision, doesn't matter if these friends and family are giving advice from shariah or not..they will blindly follow.
This brings up another issue, who is responsible for this? No doubt the parents are the ones responsible for the tarbiya of their children but there comes an age where the child is no longer a child and is responsible for his own faults in the court of Allah.
This is one of the reasons I brought up this topic of "respect of the Ulema", when we start promoting the scholars, we promote Islam and role models are born. We all know how much the youth love role models. Instead of those singers, actors who bring nothing more than death to heart, if we concentrated in bringing up our scholars, society would definitely be better off.

and to that the majority is gonna ask u , where the genuine ulema r ?? (no one question about the authenticity of other role models of society , but ulema, yeah right) well the answer to that is , than open up the quran ,read what's in it & follow
Re: Who/Where do you go to for SOLUTIONS to your PROBLEMS?
Those ulama's used to play a vital role in the society of that time.......these days the society is more disintegrated and ulema's don't have the same authority/control or even intimacy with the general public to play that role. Furthermore, I don't personally think I would feel comfortable approaching an unknown ulama. However, I don't advise against it if people know that the ulama are genuine/honorable and do not provide wrong means of answering duas (peer/tawiz) etc.
Re: Who/Where do you go to for SOLUTIONS to your PROBLEMS?
IMHO,the problems are more complicated than most of those ulema's from Madarsa can handle. There are few learned scholars who went to madarsa and who live in this world and can answer your questions keeping in mind the realities of the world we live in they are well respected and people do pose them questions and get satisfactory answers. Most of the ulema's qualified from Madarsa will answer the questions in light of the realities of 1400 years ago not the realities of this world we live in.
There are some ulema's who did not go to madersa but they have acquired more depth and knowledge of deen and will keep realities of this world in mind when they answer your questions, they are well respected by their admirers.
