Who was St. George ??

Anybody have any articles/information/links about who St. George was, and the crimes he committed against muslims ?

Re: Who was St. George ??

St George was Christian officer in the Roman army during the time when the Roman Empire was still officially polytheist and anti-Christian, so he hid his beliefs. He was eventuall assigned to be one of the Emperor's personal guards.

When Emperor Diocletian ordered his soldiers to hunt down Christians, George refused to obey the order, admitted to being Christian, and spoke out against the Emperor's policy.

Diocletian was enraged, and had George tortured for days and ultimately had him beheaded.

Since St. George was killed in 303 AD, he was unable to have interaction with Muslims.

Also,

The Flag of England is the Cross of Saint George.

Re: Who was St. George ??

Apparently… it is known that St George was a Crusader >>>>

The St George’s Cross, a red cross on a white background, is the national flag of England and was adopted for the uniform of English soldiers during the military expeditions by European powers to recapture the Holy Land from Muslims (Crusades of the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth centuries), and on or about 1277 it officially became the national flag of England.

LOL

How did you come to that conclusion?

All that quote says is that the crusaders headed by the English King Richard III used the "so called" flag of St. George as their emblem.

That's the reason I haven't put a flag on my car for the football even though I want England to win, England is a nice place to live and I consider it my home and consider myself English but I don't agree with the states emblems because they depict things contrary to my beliefs such as polytheism (worship of the crucifix) and venerate blasphemy (suffering of Prophet Jesus Peace Be Upon Him) and are associated with anti-Muslimism such as the flag. Islam is my nation because even though English is my country, language and 'ethnicity' it is not my political identity (nation) which for Muslims should be religion instead of country/ethnicity, that's not to say I'll support Non-English Muslims who are anti-England just for the heck of it just because they happen to be Muslim but I don't feel any blind allegiance to the queen or the state, in fact I think we should get rid (not assassinate, just sack) the queen, make monarchy a part of our history and have a president instead of the royal family (tax thieving…) and I think the Gaelic nations of Scotland, Wales and Ireland should be freed and made independent where they can have their own Gaelic languages as primary languages and live in their own rich cultures, do away with the flimsy "British" identity and just keep it as a geographical name and nothing more, all of the countries can be a part of the European Union.

Re: Who was St. George ??

Shouldn't England have something local as its emblem instead of St. Georges cross because St. George wasn't English and England isn't even Christian anymore, it is secular.

Re: Who was St. George ??

St. George was not a crusader. However, the symbol used to signify him (the St George Cross) was adopted by Crusaders 700 years later since like the Crusaders, St George was a soldier.

In fact, St George was the only Christian saint who was a soldier, so the Crusaders chose his flag rather than that of any other saint since he was most relevant to them.

Faruk Khan, England is definately not secular. It still has an official religion (Church of England), and the head of the Church (the Queen) must agree to any law that is passed in the country.

The people are increasingly secular, but legally the country is officially Christian.

Re: Who was St. George ??

Acha, then they should make it a secular country because they are being hypocrites, it is Christian in name only, no laws are Biblical and Christian morality is nowhere to be seen in our society.

Except for the anti-Muslimness bit I think a Christian society would be more comfortable than a secular one for Muslims.
