Who was Faiz?

Just wondering. I Know he was a poet and a bit radical. But does anyone know more?

I think he was male.. Most Likely a Homo Sapien, and lived in South Asia. Just Kidding
..Faiz was a radical poet and since I am not an authority on him I will not try to make up stuff. I did see a movie with Shashi Kapoor which was based on the life of Faiz to some extent or so it is claimed. It did use his poetry in it though.

And you know his daughter Saleems (who is presently the principal of NCA in Lahore) got married to Shoaib Hashmi....I hope I don't need to tell you who is Shoaib Hashmi,

MOON

Let me guess, he is a human being who is most likely pakistani, and most likely male. The manner in which you took his name leads me to believe that he is someone of prominence, fame or notoriety to a certain undisclosed group of people.

btw whats NCA, something like NBA or NWA?

Mahnoor dearest.

Yes you do. ----smile

hello guyz

I dont know much abt Faiz's life but have read a lot of his poems... he is one of the most inspiring, passionate, poets. he has given the message of love and peace.... considered to be the best poet after Iqbal.

He was a revolutionary poet(also known as rebellious). He stood against oppression and for humanity. He was also imprisoned for abt four yrs..i believe during Zia era.
He is definitely a legand. He says:

Mata-e-loh-o-qalam chhin gai to kyaa Gam hai
ke Khoon-e-dil mein Dubo lii hain ungaliyaN main ne
zabaaN pe mohar lagi hai to kyaa ke rakh di hai
har ek halqa-e-zanjir mein zubaaN main ne

Fiaz Ahmed Faiz was the foremost Urdu poet-philospher in post-independence Pakistan. Incidentally he was an awoved marxist and an atheist - two traits that ran him afowl of the establishment. As a consequence he spent many years either under house arrest or in prison.
Even hs detractors had to conceed that his poetry both agnostic & revolutionary left a very strong imprint on the Urdu literary scene. I believed he died in the late 80's early 90's - reviled by the establishment - he a had a huge literary following in Pakistan.

A website of Faiz’s poetry…

Thanks jack
