who wants to clean my apartment?

I mean..uh...help me..:halo:

I’ll be moving to a new apartment soon and I want to do a deep cleaning before we move in.
and okay this is kind of embarrassing but I never really took care of the place I live in now :o but i want to maintain this new place as best as i can…

is all that gunk/dust etc on top of the toilet thinggy going to come off in one sitting?
im not sure if these are wood, laminate, vinyl etc floors…and yes i googled some info, but didnt get the answer i needed…
is a special cleanser needed for these floors? can I get away with permanently using a swiffer mop (instead of the regu. mop and bucket)? is the swiffer not good enough?

Yes…yes…i was very spoiled :halo:

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

That's a lot of gunk. If scrubbing with soap and water or swifferizing doesn't work, have you considered a solution made with a bit of bleach and borax diluted in water? You could rub it into the gunk and leave it there for a little while and then do some heavy scrubbing/rubbing to get it off. That's how I clean my bathroom...I like things STERILE in the bathroom.

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

Hire a person to clean it......... :)

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

you need to buy lots of different cleaning liquids for different surfaces and sponges and srub it. I don't know about the american products otherwise I'd have given you the names.

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

is this toilet not very small

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

TOILET CLEANING - Get a spray bottle and put in a generous squirt of dish-washing liquid, lots of bleach and hot water, close bottle n spray all the tiles, toilet area, floor EVERYTHING. Wear a mask or a cloth wrapped round your face bcos u don't want to die from the bleach fumes. Leave it for a while then get an medium sized old paint brush and brush the bleach solution right into the nooks n crannies to make sure u get most of the dirt off.

Then either rinse n wipe or just wipe with several changes of wet cloth. Once it's all rinsed / wiped clean, then spray NEAT WHITE VINEGAR all over the area including tiles and leave for a while. Then rinse again. Vinegar should dissolve limescale and leave your tiles shiny. (But don't get it on chrome plated stuff).

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

In India occupants are not allowed to clean their bathroom. It is prohibited by law :snooty:

Instead owners have to employ a servant to clean bathrooms

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

Hire Kim and Aggie!

Well i was hoping i could use normal household stuff/commercial products first…and then if that doesnt work…move on :hehe: (yeah IM REALLY lazy).
u dont want to see my current bathroom. I mean i do the normal cleaning (sink, toilet, mirror) but the tub/tiles/toilet part…NAH!

ummm its normal sized..lol

ahhhh thanks!! will try that!

Good for you. we live in america. we clean our own damn bathrooms.

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

Is this the place you will be moving in? how come the landlord didn't clean it for you? It's their responsibility to hand over the ultra clean apartment so you need not to scrub for a few months!

For cleaning.. Colorox Bleach should work but dont forget to turn on the exhaust fan and open all the windows in the house while you do that or better yet do it couple of days before you move there. Wear a mask and gloves while doing so because bleach can be very irritating and dangerous!

ps: I still believe the landlord should take care of it before you move in!

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

I just use one cleaner for most of my cleaning needs_Oxyclean Scrub free or something like that. I spray it everywhere, in the shower, in the sink etc, leave it for a few mins and then scrub a tiny little bit.

For the wooden floors, i am not sure about swiffer since its been a long long time i have used it but i think it will be fine. You dont need special cleaners for it unless you want it to shine. In that case, the only one i know of is Murphy's soap oil which is just mediocre. If not, then regular mop with water should do the trick. The thing is to never let wooden floors get too wet though, it can hurt the wood.

:konfused: Do you want to play cricket inside ?

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

^ No but i think its way too small. I mean its just place for sitting :D

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

For the floors - there is a pledge hard wood floor cleaner. I would pinesol it first with a mop or swiffer and then do the pledge hard wood for the shine. (works on all types of floors)

For the Toilet and Fixtures - Lysol bathroom cleaner. Spray and leave it for about 2-3 hours - maybe even over night. And then you'll gloves and those aluminum scrubing pads and scrub away. There is tons of water build up. After that you can apply a can of build up resistant spray OR you can take a can of metalic spray paint for piping and spray away to get a nice clean finish.

For the bathroom floor - at the bottom - I would take a scrapper (from home depot) they are use to pic up paint or to smooth grout. Wood handles, steel base and get rid of all the stuff in corner. Once it's clean. Take white grout and grout the edges that meet the wall with the corner of the floor.

Good luck

:fatee: Place of sitting for one person at a time only

Exactly ! How much space does one need for that ?

:rotfl:

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

It is small and that explains why the shiit made it to the cracks between the wall and the floor. That is one nasty place to take a dump. I think my internal system will refuse to oblige.

Re: who wants to clean my apartment?

wear gloves!

Now if I didn't know any better, I would say that u missed out an "h" in your spelling.

Dude i asked them, they said its our responsibility for reasonable cleaning. Ugh.

I’m moving in the next week or so, so i’m doing as much cleaning as i can.

I bought the gloves. abh gloves dirty hain, and i hate the mop (mr clean magic eraser…the handle was pink and purple!!!)

Like an idiot i left all my notes at home and was totally lost at Target :crying:
i bought scrubbing bubbles for the bathroom, windex vinegar for overall cleaning, and uh pinesol for the floors.

toh kya beht ke gol guppay khanay hain?

ill try leaving it on overnight when I move in…

good for you. crossing u off the list for housewarming party
