Who to support in Syrian War

On the one side we have a regime which has brutally tried to crush the rebellion, and on the other we have some militants joining the ranks of the opposition. Almost every one is taking sides in this war, even those (who in the past) have been preaching that we shouldn’t consider ourselves to be the thekedars of Muslim world and focus on Pakistan. Why should one support one of the warring group’s knowing that both sides are committing crimes? My personal observation is that most people are supporting party’s based upon their sect’s affiliation.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Majority of Syrians is nor Alawi nor Salafi. I support the majority.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

I have always supported the people over the brutal dictators and always will, be it Syria, Egypt, Bahrain or Yemen. People power.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

^ That is true. If there are secular democracies installed in Muslim countries then we won't have such issues. But unfortunately we have dictatorships and monarchies.
I blame the West for current condition. The current clerical regime in Iran would not have come to power if Mosaddegh was not overthrown by America and Britain. And it is the West which supports other dictators and kings all over the Muslim world.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

This is a war which I do not support one side over another, and I hope the West can stay out of it.

Sadly that is tantamount to staying on the sidelines and watch the killing because there is little the outside world can do.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Agreed. The way to cripple Assad would be with sanctions, and to convince China and Russia to stop supporting him, which of course, would require the US to stop protecting Israel. Not likely, so this massacre will continue. This "red line" about chemical weapons, unfortunately, is more important to them so as to send a message to Iran and other countries that it is threshold that should not be crossed. The governments care nothing for the people, 100,000 of whom have already died.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

I am a sunni but I am supporting the shias and I am against the sunnis, so sect has nothing to do with it as far as I am concerned. We need to look at the issues rather than blindly supporting parties. We are all muslims and should avoid falling into the trap of being divided and ruled.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Syria!

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

bohot khoob :k:

same here

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

I just want the innocent ppl to stop dying....it is heartbreaking to see the children dying from all these weapons....

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Assad enjoys widespread support in Syria. If Assad goes then Syria will become a bloodbath even more so than it is now, we will see senseless killings, sectarianism will take hold and the country will disintegrate and be run by various warlords. The various countries will support their own factions. For the vast majority of Syrians it is an issue of supporting and defending their country against foreigners and outsiders...Assad is not even an issue.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

I am against civilian deaths and foremost the foreign backed insurgency that is tearing yet another Muslim country apart.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Someone wrote on Yahoo!

Iran is backing Assad. Gulf states are against Assad.
Assad is against the Muslim Brotherhood!
Muslim Brotherhood and Obama are against General Sisi. But Gulf States are pro General Sisi. Which means they are against Muslim Brotherhood.
Iran is pro Hamas but Hamas is backing Muslim Brotherhood.
Obama is backing Muslim Brotherhood, yet Hamas is against the US.
Gulf states are pro US. But Turkey is with the Gulf States against Assad ; Yet turkey is pro Muslim Brotherhood, against General Sisi. And General Sisi is being backed by the Gulf States.
Hopes this clarifies the situation. Welcome to Middle East politics....have a nice day

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

what Syrians want is more important than what others think. I'm sure all the want to see is stability and peace in their country.

But I don't see how military action will bring that....I wish all the concerned parties can put aside their differences and agendas, come together and make decision in the best interests of Syrians.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

blah blah blah

**The whole world has problem with Uncle Sam when it commits immoral stuff.... fair enough but this freakin world also has problem with Uncle Sam when it finally wants to do something that is morally correct.. I feel for ya Sam!!!....you will find all kind of analysis to prove that evil usa is doing it for xyz reason......fine even if usa is doin this for any eveil reason, i want asad regime to die....who used chemical weapons to kill over 1400 of his own people

*GO for it Obama
*
CRUSH ASAD..DO NOT LISTEN TO APOLOGISTS

you have my full support....damn i cant believe i just supported Obama!**

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

Very mature reply. :k: Addresses the other user’s points from a very valid perspective, with facts. Bravo.

Let me know when you find out about Iraq’s WMDs. We’re all still waiting for those to be found.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

i knew you will be going there..

iraq WMD
iran is the real target not syria
USA wants to finish syria to save israel
conspiracy against Palestinians
post-asad syria will disintegrate

any other theory my friend!

bhai, iraq WMD was a pathetic act by USA and UK and rest of the world will keep on cursing them for that decision…but how can you relate that to syria where a dictator is killing hundred of thousands of his fellow beings…gas or no gas, asad regime needs to be crushed.

and if you want to bring oiraq WMD then let me remind you bosnia situation…who saved millions of Muslims in that situation from butcher Milosevic? you? me? saudi arabia? sadam? pakistan?..who saved them..your uncle sam…

bottomline…uncle sam actions will sometime help you and sometimes it will hurt you…but when USA action happens to be on the right side of history, you guys will bring gazallion conspiracy theories amid your ultimate hatred for america

so uncle sadam is your mujahid and shaeed azam?

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

So then why would you cheer on the same wolf to guard the sheep, when you have yourself stated the track record being quite poor. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to urge the "Brother" nations to act and handle the situation. When will those PetroDollar jets come handy?

I'm sorry, but I find it very difficult to sleep easy knowing that I voice support for more killing on top of the killing that has already taken place. That too, at the hands of those who have little concern for the region's welfare. You see your dilemma my friend, is that you curse the same nations for their foolishness of the recent past, then in the same breath ask of them to do almost the same thing again hoping for different results.

Tell me how that makes any sense?

For the record, I want Assad to be history as much as anyone else. Where there's smoke, there's definitely fire. But launching an all out barrage of missile stikes is NOT the way to take him out, it will result in massive casualties. He's not going to be sitting in Military barracks. He'll be in civilian population.

You want American tax payers to foot the bill for another adventure, I'm against it because taxes are crazy and economy is in shambles. I have a feeling, most Americans probably feel that way. So, please save the pep talk for Saudis, Jordanians, Egyptians (who are marvelous at crowd management if you haven't noticed), or other capable muslim nations.

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

My only problem with big bro stepping in right now is...even though I want Assad to stop..all this missile attacks they have planned is only going to kill more innocent ppl...I really don't want to see anymore innocent dead..specially children....it is just not right!

My mom lives in this building, majority living there are Syrians...so she was chatting to them..and they don't want the US to "help". They are pro Assad...so am confused with that as well....

Re: Who to support in Syrian War

brother...which brother nations? we all pray that OIC was strong enough to handle this crisis...

teggy, this syria war has been going on for over 2 years...how will it end? if the world does not react to chemical weapons, do you really see an end to the violence? asaad will stop?

you want assad to be history but when history provides an opportunity, you are quiet

Launching missiles or air strikes is bad...so shd usa armed forces go in there? what is an alternative

the point that you are missing that this syria war is going on for a long time....over 100K people have died...nothing has worked.....

for allah sake, have some mercy on poor syrian people.....by not interfering, we are just going to intensify their pain
