Re: who taught you how to pray as a child? and at what age?
i cannot remember! i guess it must have been my Mum.
its not like i'm teaching my little one yet, but i lay her down on the prayer mat while i perform namaz loud enough so she can hear it, she's 4.5 months old.
Re: who taught you how to pray as a child? and at what age?
I knew the basic movements from a young age cos my parents read regularly, but my mum didnt teach me the recitation till i was 12, been praying ever since.
Re: who taught you how to pray as a child? and at what age?
When I was about 3/4 I'd follow my mum around and I had this teensy little prayer mat, I'd just copy her movements and in the end hold my hands together to do dua. But then she started teaching me when I was about 6/7...I felt so cool, LOL.
Re: who taught you how to pray as a child? and at what age?
Qur'an teacher at age 9-ish (and that was prob only because a Muslim family moved next door and my parents felt a bit guilty lol, had never even seen them pray back then).. Didn't see the inside of a mosque till my early teens..
Re: who taught you how to pray as a child? and at what age?
I did the whole imitating the adult praying thing as a child, but my mom didn't start teaching me the proper thing until 6 or 7. That's when I memorized the ayahs. And then I prayed for the first time with mommy, just 1 rakah, and then 2 and then built up the entire fard or sunnah and eventually the entire namaz along with nawafil within a couple of months. Even now the book from which I learnt the ayahs comes in front of my eyes when I think I'm forgetting something =$
