Now that we’ve been talkin about Aamir Sohail so much, lets imagine that he gets fired/or he resigns. Who do you think would be an ideal replacement?
Should Wasim Bari be brought back? I feel Haroon Rashid or someone like Mushtaq Mohd. are decent n fair people. If I were the chief of pcb, i’d bring saeed anwar as the chief selector. he’s a decent n honest guy and he has played alot of cricket therefore has a gd eye on talent. i think he’ll do a gd job. Whats ur take on this issue…?
may be zaheer abbas as he does not have any personal animosity with any of these players... when he retired, non of these players even started playing and he is very mature and a decent guy....well just a suggestion....i think majid khan is also sharp and honest person......and to keep up balance, one from new era, cud be saeed anwar as he is an educated guy and pretty decent and experienced cricketer so my team is
I'd rather keep Aamir Sohail than have Wasim Bari or Mushtaq Mohammed brought back. At least he was brave enough to start the re-building which was required.

I agree on Zaheer Abbas. He would be my top choice too. But reading his articles on the PCB affairs every Sunday, i think he is in the dog house with tauqeer Zia.
I dont belive brining in any of the recently retired players as a chief selector is a good idea. There simply has been too much power politics in Pakistan in the 90's to expect an impartial decision from these players.
Instead Pakistan should bring in a professional man for this job, not a well known official or a former player, because they always hold grudges against someone.

does he still write for dawn in sunday edition.... please update.. thanks
I agree with Umair. Why does Chief Selector have to be a former official or a former player. I think someone like Omar Kureishi could do a nice job too. He was a good commentator, has been invlolved in Pakistan cricket for a long time, seems to have a very good knowledge of the game and recently I read some very good articles by him in dawn.
I guess anyone could be ok except for the players who have played not just recently but even in the past. Zaheer Abbass would be a very very bad choice. There is just too much history between him and Javed Miandad. Remember it was Zaheer who initiated the campaign to remove Javed from the captaincy when Javed got it the first time. Then after the revolt when Javed decided to give up captaincy the media announced that Javed resigned only on the condition that Zaheer wont be made the captain. Now Javed denies that and according to him he never mentioned any single player, he said he wouldnt play under anyone but Imran Khan.
I guess it would be better if we bring an outside now and have hin handle the business in a fair manner. Not that I expect any fairness since Junaid Zia's inclusion in the team. But I think Tauqeer needs to give Ramiz and then new selector a free hand and not press for anyone's inclusion.
yeah omer kurieshi is quite amazing . his thinking abt the game is commendable. i've been reading his columns since last 8-10 yrs n he always says something that makes u think n makes u appreciate him more!
he's just a little old school, but thats natural, considering his age. but him being our chief selector would b just perfect, althou i don think he'll ever make it simply coz he's 2 fair a person to be a part of the dirty political world of pakistan cricket!
