Remember they showed that on PTV back in, well 1989? Personally I think that was the launching point of the new pop music and introduced bands like Vital Signs to the masses. I am sure some people already knew about Vital Signs, Junoon and Jupiters, but this show is what brought them into the lime light.
Then PTV had a show in which they would invite a band to play music, it was recorded at Boat Basin, all the big names were in that show.

That sounds about right. Although after Music 89... PTV started a weekly show hosted by Nazia Hasan which invited various young pop groups etc to perform on television.. plus it had some Nazia songs too. I can't remember the name of that show now.
Well, i remember the show Music 89 very well. They did a show with Nazia and Zoheb hosted by Anwar Maqsood. Back then they would show dances either in slow motion or in shortened clips, under a strong feeling of islamic and cultural "haya". One other contemporary show was, MCC (Music Channel Charts). Some famous groups then were Jupiters, Wet metal, sequencers and of course strings. Does someone remember songs from these groups? (Strings with Sadaf Munir were my favourite)
They were showing a song from that show a few months ago…Ali Azmat singing yaaaro yahi dosti hei He looked like such a puppoo bacha. Tapered jeans tied at his waist with ankle high sneakers and a jacket with elastic at the bottom. Poor boy!
I remember that time for sure . In those I always looked and observed TV with a clean mind .(Umar ka takaza hai). So I got good memories of that time ...
I remember the retelecasting of Waris in 89 and I loved that show at that time but now I tried to see it again and it was hmmm just ok ...
Yeah man I even have it on video...Ali Azmat looking like a shareef bacha...I remember the song they sang, "yaaro yehi dosti hai...kissmat sey jo milli hai! "
and nazia and zohaib presented the show right? that was totally cool.

I still love the dialoges in Waris. It is definitely one of the best drama of all times.
