Those of you who had their Nikkah ceremony done prior to the Barat function, who payed for the nikkah function?
Did you split the cost between both families?
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Desi tradition is for girls family to pay. My brother had his Nikah done in Pakistan he became the dulha and we ate biryyani korma later turned out the girl was in love with some one else and she called my brother to cancel the Nikah but we enjoyed the dawaat. We were happy that we didn’t have to pay. Arranged marriages are so risky.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Ya the girl sides usually pays, but if the guy side wants to invite more people, he has to chip in the expenses as well. TBH…the guy should be willing to pay for his guests in the wedding, as well as the full cost of the valima. Just my two cents on things.
And what Happened to your brother is sad and Effed up..Poor guy, how is he now a days. Did he find the girl of his dreams?
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Yeah he did, he found a girl in Montreal and married by himself and has a great life. Sometimes parents unduly want to pressure girls, like a good looking well-educated guy from overseas makes sense but matters of heart are different. He was messed up for a bit.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Bride or bride’s family is responsible of meal … You can limit number guest or guest count of groom…
Groom only pay Nikkah fee to Imam or Masjid…
But if both family to pitch in the cost… this will be great… and nice gesture from groom’s family…
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Couples in my community typically have their Nikkah at the masjid. The only one who pays is the groom paying up dowry to his bride. The baraat is held later in the evening or the following evening, paid by the bride’s side.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Wow. What do you mean by a nikkah function? Do you mean the wedding hall/food/decorations etc? If nikkah is done on the same day as baraat I suppose the girl’s side has to pay. If not, and I mean if the nikkah is done on a few days/weeks/months before the wedding, then I would not know. Actually I had no clue people had nikah functions with food etc until my sister told me about it this year since she’s covered a few as a wedding photographer.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
I went to a nikaah last year. The imam (officiant) was paid some money and it was split between both the groom and bride. The nikaah was done in the masjid so there weren’t many other expenses. They had some sweets, dates. It was very simple.
A friend of mine also had her nikaah done last year and the imam was paid by the groom. They also had a small reception afterwards which was paid by the bride’s side.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
so from the responses here it seems that usually girl’s side pays for it, however i feel that it should be divided between both the families when it is conducted as a separate function altogether,as Nikkah actually is of both the guy and the girl so it makes more sense if both parties pays for it.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Every Nikaah I have come across has been paid for by the bride’s family, whether that is in her house or in the Mosque. The guy’s side normally pays the imam and any extra for the mosque etc.
The number of people is normally around 25 maximum when it has been held as a separate event and not on the day of the wedding.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
the girl side. they arrange for the imam as well.
Re: Who pays for Nikkah function
Generally, in Pakistan, bride’s side arranges for the imam but the groom’s side pays for it. The event’s arrangements/expenses are usually paid by the brides side.
