Coach and captain deny any say in the final outcome of a pitch.
The Cricket Board is always silent on this matter
The curator blames the weather but yet he shaves off all the grass hours before the test begins
So, who in the world decides on the pitch? Is it just a matter of luck?
I know local climate plays a big part but how come we had sporting pitches recently against England and also around the same time last year versus India.
I am also told that the winter this year has been quite severe compared to previous years.
there has been alot of talk about the pitches in Pak specially for the current series against India, i personally dont think these pitches are much different than the ones used in the Eng series, the same pitches, predictable bounce for the batsman to score alot and alotsa runs....the only different in this series has been that in Eng series, English bowling after still missing Simon Jones and without a quality spinner was still alot better than the current indian bowling also their bowling trio(Hoggard, Flintoof and harmison )experimented alot of change of pace yorker + bouncers etc, so at the end they were able to take the few Pakistani wickets, this is what Indians have not been able to do the same way Engish bowlers did, result younis khan scorning 470 runs in two test matches and others scoring alotsa runs too......
When Bowling at Indian batsman and comparing that with bowling at Engish batsman, Indian ones are alot better (technically and motivation vise too)than English batsman to play on these wickets inface to play on and onnnnnnnnnn on these wickets, where as the Engish werent as tuned in to these wicket--------------------so the result has been that indian baating is dealing Pakistani bowling alot better than what Eng did.
So i dont think there is anyone to point any fingers on, and blaming the wicket.......the series is going very much the way i expected to go, and i am not too surprised at the wickets and the way cricket has played so far in the series
England series took place in early part of winter, when it wasn't that cold, currently the temperatures in Punjab are around 5-10 degrees on average, also lack of sunshine plays a major part in preparing good and hard test wickets.
You can't blame anyone for pitches like these, its all mother nature.
Just like you can't do anything about rain interrupting matches, this is the same scenario.
How about planning little early since we all know there will not be any sun in January. It is not that only this January was cold.
They screwed the whole sereis.
I hope you mean BCCI when you say 'They screwed the whole series' BCCI indeed always has a say in the timingof the series. And you can't say that BCCI didn'tknow what weather is like in Pak.
i'll go with imran and wasim on this one.
both have said quite sternly that in pakistan for years altogether, the tradtion has been of the captain and coach asking for wickets of their choice and getting it.
knowing inzi's defensive mentality, i dont think one needs to look any farther when it comes to blaming someone for the pitch.
for me, INZI's the *chor *;)
I was going to open a thread baching bcci but then again,i know a few dhotis would have caught fire, BCCI should e blamed for this, they denied playing the 1st test in karachi when it just hosted a wonderful ODI against England! Those clowns always toy with the unqualified unproffesionals of PCB! who have no spine!
Yes and if BCCI will ask you to close down PCB then you will oblige?. right???
Guest team can make any demand that they want but It is responsibility of host to decide which one to agree with or not. How about showing some balls and not sucking up to BCCI?
Yes.. 5 days me to kamal ho jaana tha.
5 days means test in Lahore would have started around 19th January. We saw what kinda pitch was available in Faisalabad where game started around 19th Jan.

Yeh lo.. naikee kar darya may daal. First you try to show some hospitality and this is the attitude you get in reply. Wah India wah.
It was BCCI which asked to move the first test from Karachi to Punjab cities to accomadate their own needs. They have been known to bully around the ICC and other cricket boards for their comfort. Afterall they are major source of marketing for cricket around the world. They would have probably called of the tour.
Pitches are made by maalis, obviously. And the glorified maalis, renamed Head Groundskeeper, are still a maali. Chief Curator, Agha sahab just oversees these maalis, cz he has no clue himself. There is more to fast and bouncy pitches than just growing green grass on top and then shaving it off. Pakistan just don't know how.
Like Wasim and Imran were able to get “fast and bouncy” pitch as in MCG or other grounds in their tenure as captain? , so yeah you can go and lick anyone’s behind as long as they think along your lines.
