You folks think way too much about how cute it will be when you cook or he cooks etc. These are all human-defined roles. If a woman or a man barbque's - who the heck cares?
The fact that desi families even make this a big deal in the rishtaa process is silly. It's to be figured out between husband and wife.

bad grilling is just as easy as bad stovetop cooking.
it takes skill to do it right
skill, right supplies/equipment and right quality of meat. (same is true for good stovetop cooking)
but yeah, anyone can toss smooshed tight beef patties on a grill and remove burnt coasters with undercooked centers or charred chicken still bleeding inside :)
i like grilling man ... i think its super fun

i never touched the grill. My man always do it by himself. He never force me to do that he so loving.
Women marinate, men grill.

i do the grilling, and I do the prep, she can do cutesy prep stuff with shish kebab and all or desi chicken, but beef and lamb is my domain.
oh, and nobody touches my grill but me..I make better steaks than most restaurants

as per one of my friend, BBQ plan on weekend just mean "we want to take a break ... you cook" :)
