Re: Who Killed Zia?

It is mind boggling that the plane did not have cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorders. The best that one could do now is come up with a plausible theory which has always been sabotage or mechanical malfunction. If it was sabotage, there must have been some internal military personnel involved. Putting so many top generals in one plane is also mind boggling. The military certainly did not follow good rules.

Re: Who Killed Zia?

It was a day after coup of Zia on July 77. One of the JI paper (Jasarat perhaps) printe a full page front page image where was a sun in center and its light wre spreading .Zia was in the sun and on bottom line there was an Ayat in arabic ‘Ja ul haq’ waliجَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا

"اور کہ حق آگیا اور باطل مٹ گیا اور بیشک باطل تو مٹنے والا ہی ہے۔ (الاسراء۔81)
They were perhaps using Ja ul haq for Zia ul Haq

Re: Who Killed Zia?

People keep saying this, but the fact is, if you were alive and mature in his time, and were not a PPP supporter or Shia, chances are you had some degree of admiration of him.

This is not to say he was a good man, but I simply don't recall the mass hate-on many people now-a-days seem to project backwards in time...

Re: Who Killed Zia?

^there are a lot of members in this thread who are not ppp supporters or belong to Shia community but STILL don't like him. He was just Makkar insan who used the name of Islam to do whatever to rule the country.

Re: Who Killed Zia?

Considering the PPP is the most popular party in Pakistan then it already shows a very large percentage of Pakistan hated Zia. Then there are others. Thwe problem with Zia is that his legacy was so toxic that when he ruled the situation was not that bad but after he has gone we began to see his fruits of his policy ripen.

Look at Musharaf and his handling of Balochistan, the militants in thr north-west and how he allowed the MQM to get away with May 12 in 2007. After his rule we begin to see how toxic his legacy was as well.

Although, has the follow up government, always the PPP, proved to be competent the situation could have been better.

Re: Who Killed Zia?

Uncle Sam didnt needed him anymore and got rid of him and ofcourses that would have been impossible, without any internal support against him.

Re: Who Killed Zia?

I was suggesting that historically, when Zia was alive, he had many genuine supporters in Pakistan and abroad. He was no Shah of Iran....

Re: Who Killed Zia?

Not really...the PPP has a core base who were upset, but then you have a sea of people who vote for them for whatever populous reason and/or because feudal lord said so.

LOL. Much of the problems you see today are because BB decided to run with the legacy he left...the rise of the Taliban was under her watch...and they were NOT the people Zia was funding. I will conceede that a lot of the sectarian issues we see today started with him...and that we can fault him for, but the fact is, we can only balme him for so much. Real problems started after he died. The harm BB, NS, Mushy, (and I don't even want to start with Z), is infinitely more than anything Zia could have done...

Nah....that's a stretch. His legacy was primarily in inturrupting PPP rule, which may well have saw the soviet occupation of Pakistan.
