I am a cooking buff but with the growing number of cooking shows on different channels plus the number of cooking channels themselves it is getting difficult to decide on which shows to follow. Even in general discussions everyone seems to have their own favourites like Chef Zakir, Chef Rahat, Chef Mehboob, Chef Shireen Anwar, Zubeida Tariq etc. So my question is who is the best/most watched Chef on TV these days?
Re: Who is the best Chef on TV?
i have tried and tested recipes from various tv chefs but the only one whose recipes consistently turned out great is samina jalil. the worst turn out was shireen anwar's recipes :/ her food/recipes look so good on tv but somehow never turn out good, maybe its just me
Re: Who is the best Chef on TV?
my mom has tried chef Rahat, Rida Aftaab and Farah Jahanzeb's recipes and most of their recipes turned out to be good

My experience has been quite different actually. Shireen Anwar's tandoori penne, sindhi biryani, chopsuey, spicy honey wings, panini and chicken broast are regulars at our house and everyone loves them. Can't comment on her desserts since haven't tried any.
My personal favourites though would be Chef Zakir and Rida Aftab since both are very down to earth and use easily available ingredients and no fuss recipes.
Re: Who is the best Chef on TV?
Jamie Oliver.
Re: Who is the best Chef on TV?
I like Rida Aftab's recipe because she uses things that we can easily find in our kitchen.
We tried one of chef Zakir's recipe and did not like it after spending 2+ hours making it.
Re: Who is the best Chef on TV?
I can't stand chef rahat but really like her chicken manchurian and lahorie cholay, biryani recipes. I really like Chef Zakir's Chicken Chargha recipe and his chicken cheese and corn balls; they make excellent appetizers. Tried his Mutee Kabab which turned out nice. Usually when i make his recipes I reduce the amount of red chilli coz he likes his food a little hotter than my preference. Also tried some of chef Gulzar's recipes including chicken with almonds and lemon chicken which turned out nice.
Liked Zubaida Tariq's Biryani and her chicken Shashlik. Infact her shashlik is prob THE BEST recipe I have ever tried. I make some slight modification to the quantity of green pepper (coz i don't like that veggie)
I guess it's all about being smart and choosing the right recipe. Most of the time you can judge by the ingredients and technique how something will turn out. I also don't believe in blindly following someone's recipe since everyone has their own taste preferences. I always use the recipe as a base line and adjust the ingredient quantities to my need. It would be silly to discredit someone just because they like more red chilli in their food then you do (case in point chef zakir).
Haven't tried shireen anwar yet but there has to be a reason behind all the hype.. have you folks checked out her FB page? compared to the other chefs it has the most fans .
