Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

So far only John McCain looks like a person who treats Pakistan with respect.

Hillary Clinton wants to take over Pakistani Nuclear Weapons and Barack Obama wants to bomb Pakistan.

Hillary Clinton proposes joint oversight of Pakistan nukes

MANCHESTER (updated on: January 07, 2008, 09:23 PST): US White House hopeful Hillary Clinton late on Saturday said she would propose a joint US-British team to oversee the security of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal if she is elected president.

“So far as we know right now, the nuclear technology is considered secure, but there isn’t any guarantee, especially given the political turmoil going on inside Pakistan,” Clinton said during a Democratic debate here.

If elected president, the US senator said, “I would try to get (Pakistan President Pervez) Musharraf to share the security responsibility of the nuclear weapons with a delegation from the United States and, perhaps, Great Britain, so that there is some fail-safe.”

The four Democratic candidates – Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson and former senator John Edwards – were scathing about President George W. Bush’s policy towards Pakistan.

They said they were prepared to launch unilateral military strikes in the country if they detected an imminent threat or could pinpoint the location of al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden.

“Here’s an unstable leader, in a country with extremism element that could, under some circumstances, take over the government,” warned Edwards.

“If they did, they would have control of a nuclear weapon. They could either use it, or they could turn it over to a terrorist organization to be used against America or some of our allies.”

Obama, who won the first Democratic White House nominating contest in Iowa on Thursday, reiterated his earlier stance that he would take action in Pakistan even if Islamabad is opposed, if there is strong intelligence on al Qaeda there.

“Back in August, I said we should work with the Pakistani government, first of all to encourage democracy in Pakistan so you’ve got a legitimate government that we’re working with, and secondly that we have to press them to do more to take on al Qaeda in their territory,” he said.

“What I said was, if they could not or would not do so, and we had actionable intelligence, then I would strike.”

Meanwhile Richardson, the fourth-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination going into Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, called for Musharraf’s ouster.

“Here is an example of a country, a potentially failed nation-state with nuclear weapons,” said Richardson.

“We had a situation where (Musarraf) has not gone after al Qaeda in his own country, despite the fact that we’ve given him 11 billion dollars … He’s basically said that he is the supreme dictator. So we have the worst of all worlds.”

“What I would specifically do as president is I would ask Musharraf to step aside,” Richardson added.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

All US presidents will be good for Pakistan.

God Bless USA. God Bless Pakistan. Long may their partnership continue. :k:

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

^^ how is that?

Obama wants to bomb Pakistan, Hillary wants to take over our Nukes

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

lol cant u see, they have to cosy up to the democrats now... lol

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

its all big talk, to differentiate their position from W, when they get in the office (very doubtful) and get a reality check then they will backtrack as well and not just on this, on rapid withdrawl from Iraq, on healthcare, taxes, u name it.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

I think John Edward from democratic side & John McCain from republican side would be good for Pakistan. Obama, Hilary and Rudy Giuliani are the least friendly toward Pakistan. Personally, I like Obama and I hope he get the nomination, but its very unlikely b/c he is black.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

^ Personally I like John Edwards but I don't think he can make it this time either. At most he can end up being VP for any of the real candidate but for that he need to take South in primary ...lets see what happens in SC.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

Personally i think it's all hot-talk so they're making the most of it by getting on the Bandwagon. Back in the Soviet prime era, every candidate would reiterate the same kind of jibrish (though not as far as going into Russia) but along the same lines of rhetoric, because that was the sore thumb back then.

Times have changed, mentalities and policies haven't. It's all a part of the pre-office games. Pakistan does have limited amount of time to unite and cleanse itself of internal problems that become headliners, or else the shallow threats may take solid shape (God Forbid).

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

its all depends on state dept policies and pentagon how they treat particular country.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

I think SC will go to Obama b/c it has huge black population (I think like 50%). Nevada will go to Hilary...in which case we will have to wait until Super Tuesday to findout who is the nominee.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

saray hi begairat han so the answer to your Q is NO ONE

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

John McCain?! The one who once said that Axis of Evil needs to be tought a lesson? Definately he is the right guy for Islamic countries.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

Don’t believe everything that is being said by the candidates about Pakistan.

USA - Pakistan bhai bhai. :jhanda: + :US FLAG:

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

Ron Paul - but he hasn't got a chance

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

My God!! Are you living in a stone age…or are you selectively media biased??

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

George Bush was good only for one country in the world, and that is not USA.

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

That Is something most of us new after his first 4 years, majority average American took 8 years to understand. And even now there are many who would vote for him unfailingly. Sad...

Re: Who is the best American President for Pakistan?

Who's the best american prez for pakistan? It's musharaf ofcourse!

I think McCain is less disqualified than the rest of the clowns. Hillary, Obama, Huckaby will be disastrous. Edward and Romney will be ineffective at best and laughable at worst. The rest are crap, led ny Guiliani.
