Who is Sharjeel Khan?

He seems to have made few fans on KK today :hmmm: well at least @Zabardast @SID_NY @aaliyahkhan1 @ehsan @GoldenAsif So I thought I should remind you about where/when you first heard of this guy.

Sharjeel Khan: The real unfortunate one**…I think, his biggest disadvantage is that he is from Hyderabad…I honestly feel terrible for this guy, Let me first start by telling you when I first saw him, it was in Pak T20 tournament couple of years ago, the way he was treating all the bowlers was just eye opening, he was really really quick at picking up the length of the ball and he had real good hand eye coordination, he dominated the bowling that he faced in such a way that reminded me of Adam Gilchrist, especially the way he hoicked the balls over mid wicket and how good/punishing he was on the short balls.

Now Pak is the only place where “ex cricketers/cricket experts” who will present a players strength as his weakness just so they can push other guy who is either from their city or is related to them or has connection that helped that cricket expert get where he is…either in some position within PCB (Coach/Selector) or on some news channel as a cricket expert. So Sharjeel was not taken on next Pak tour (which was of Zimbabwe in 2011) and one guy who made it to the tour was the commentator for that T20 in which sharjeel played like a royalty.

The excuse that the genius MHK gave and was heard via other media people that Sharjeel is too much of an on side player…those geniuses **were not able to process the fact that it was Sharjeel’s good hand eye coordination which was enabling him to pick up length of the ball too early **and also that the quality of bowlers was not so good to keep challenging so he kept hitting most of his scoring shots on the on side. So they were able to turn (what to me looked like)his biggest strength into a weakness and keep him outside.

Another guy who scored some runs in that T20 cup was Ramiz Raja (Anyone wanna guess where that guy was from?) who got taken to that Zimb tour, but anyone would tell you that he looked like an onside slogger (thats what they called sharjeel and kept him him and took Ramiz) but Ramiz was not from Hyderabad so he got to tour.

I honestly believe that he is very very unfortunate to have the talent that he does and perhaps his chances of Playing for Pak are very very slim as he will always miss out on being from Hyderabad and not having the support from people like Iqbal Qasim, Wasim Bari, MHK, Salim Jaffar, Sikandar Bakhat, Moin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Mohammad Ilyaas etc etc and media Cheys like Yahya Hussaini, Faizan Lakhani, abdul majeed bhatti and this cult of Ex cricketers and media Cheys will not go in favor of this guy from Hyderabad.

a great player in the offing. unfortunately, he is NOT in the T-20 World Cup squad. he could have come in handy as an opener. what a late recognition of him by PCB.

well, he is bound to soar in the next ODI World Cup. good luck to this young chap!

i know him from ‘pichhle janam’ when i used to be Sachin Tendulkar Sr. and he used to be Virat Kohli Sr… j/k

i saw his him play last year…i had no idea that this guy would become a great player in the future.

I saw him for the first time today...and what a treat it was...

I don't know about him being an onside slogger..coz frankly all around the ground was bloody onside for him!!!

I was telling my husband the same thing today..Pakistan has some amazing and very exciting talent..so many choices...why is it that PCB (selectors) can't get their act together and make a squad that is untouchable!? All bloody politics..it's unfair..they need to start thinking about what is best for Pakistan cricket and not about being on the good side of a few...

Thank goodness for PSL all this forgotten talent is now on FULL show for the whole world to see...and trust me the whole world is watching no matter how some people have tried to sabotage PSL from gaining the momentum it did with its international viewers.

He is the player we need for T20 desperately. I agree he has a tendency to throw away the wicket here n there but who doesnt in our batting lineup? And you give him half of the chances you gave to flukes like Ahmed shahzad, he'll produce far better results.
This PSL reminds us of the fact that there is no scarcity of talent, its the selection which sucks!

One innings does not make him a class batsmen. He was given chance in Pak team and did not perform well. However if he carries on with such innings than he will be an asset for the future.

Sharjeel's vulnerability is the mid-wicket uppish shots (sometimes you do need to take risks esp. when chasing a big total as an opener). If he can curtail his tendency to go aerial all the time, he will be more consistent imo.

A future star in the making.

With 3 T20s he played, one of which he scored a 50 in (the last one) and an avg of 34, I wonder why was he even dropped.

Give him longer stay in the team specially in a few series. He will be asset to the t20. He just need few good innings n than he will improve drastically. Unfortunately he is getting all pressure matches.

lolz. 11 ODIs and 17 avg, all of them were pressure matches.
pcb should do it for him gradually. first plan/play a series with uae then zimbawe, then afghanistan than BD then sirilanka, then england and so on. :D
