LAHORE: The PML-N has questioned the source of funding for the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek sit-ins at Islamabad continuing for the last one week.
At a press conference here on Thursday, the party’s media coordinator Muhammad Mehdi said at least 500 buses, 100 each coasters and vans were needed for transporting 30,000 activists of both parties to Islamabad. Given the per day rent for each bus, coaster and van calculated at Rs35,000, Rs25,000 and Rs20,000, respectively, the total transportation cost for eight days comes to the tune of Rs176 million, he said, quoting the figures from local transporters.
He said almost an equal amount was needed for providing three-meals-a-day to the activists, fuel for power generators, rent of light and sound systems, pushing the total costs to over Rs350 million, he said.

The PML-N leader said the costs did not include the expenses made by 5,000 car riders and 1,500 motorcyclists who reportedly used their own vehicles for reaching Islamabad and staying there.
He asked what source of funding was being used to meet these expenses and demanded the organisers to make it public for the sake of transparency in the activities of these ‘corruption-free’ people.
Ofcourse this protests resource will remain a mystery till we find something concrete but for elections they did a very good thing.
I think PTI was the only party who held fundraisers to collect money required for elections. Exactly the same way its done in west. That gave them a lot of financial support as the party was growing and they were contesting on almost all of seats.
Really? We have come to the point where a fascist and corrupt family limited party will question others on fiscal reporting? A party that has a history of lying even on national financial reports?
Just because PMLN has had a history of getting supprt and money from the establishment, doesnt mean everyone is dirty like them.
PS: PTI did plenty of fund raisers for the azadi march, and people trust Imran, and donate to his causes. It is the people power that scares PMLN and PPP, nothing else. Fundraising for Azadi March | Azadi March
If a credible entity suspected malice in supply of funds, we’d all tow the line. Unfortunately, PML is not itself free of corruption, and other ill gained wealth, shorting the treasury in terms of tax payments, loan forgivenesses etc. etc. And that makes it hard to take fiscal accountability seriously by PML.
Someone said in another thread that people who support PTI most are from affluent areas of the country. So, wouldn’t it make sense for the affluent and well-off people to pay their own expenses and provide funding for the march as well? Or maybe their affluent background is only mentioned with a one-sided bias without considering other aspects.
I don't know about others but i paid several hundred dollars for food and water for people there and i have encourged other over sees pakistani do the same and some have responded. Not for any one party sake but for humanity sake. i think people living over seas have sense what true democracy is, and right now without a doubt pakistan is no democracy in any stretch of imagination. No one wants to see people dying from thirst or lack of food no matter what party you follow. if this go on longer i will send few more hundred dollars for food and water.
If any one can pass it onto pti, few people were complaining that paypal didn't process their payment from pti website. I hope they get that fixed soon. trust me these people have no intrest in obtaining lucrative govt jobs for corruption they just like to land on airport and not imediatly have to pay the bribes to get thier luggage bag:) or have police stop them as soon as they leave airport to collect money for police wellness fund.
