Yesterday I was cleaning my room and found this piece in the junk I have collected from my university days. One my teachers gave it to me with a smile, some words of encouragement and a pat on the back. I thought I should share it with you guys..
There is a winner inside each of us
Winners take chances.
Like everyone else, they fear failing,
But they refuse to let fear control them.
Winners don’t give up.
When life goes rough, they hang in
until the going gets better.
Winners are flexible.
They realize there is more than one way
and are willing to try others.
Winners know they are not perfect.
They respect their weaknesses
while making the most of their strengths.
Winners fail, but they don’t stay down,
They stubbornly refuse to let fall
keep coming from climbing.
Winners don’t blame fate for their failures
nor luck for their success.
Winners accept responsibility for their lives.
Winners are positive thinkers
who see good in all things.
From the ordinary, they make the extraordinary
Winners believe in the path they have chosen
even when it’s hard,
even when others don’t see where they are going.
Winners are patient.
They know a goal is only as worthy
as the effort that’s required to achieve it.
hey fraudia,
yar you must have heard about coach williams leaving. im not even a huge fan of the game, and i still felt sad when he left. he's the best NCAA coach in the country!!
but atleast we gotta coach. i dont know much about Self, but he looks like a pretty cool guy. not sure if he will lead us to the championships or not??!??
Roy Williams is an awesome coach! I loved the finals and was rooting for KU all the way but I guess if that game meant that he would go to Carolina then its good he's going back to his Alma Mater. Carolina will have a kick ass program next few years.
pardon the intrusion in this thread but I had to add that Roy Williams is awesome!
Since we are on the topic of inspirational words, I went looking for an inspirational graduation speech my sis had emailed to me. I didn't find it in my email but I did find something else, I'd like to share with my fellow guppies.
SECRET INGREDIENT
When I begin to feel sorry for myself, I sometimes think of Wendy Stoker. In high school, she placed third in the Iowa girl's state diving championships. She practiced for two hours every day for four years to become an accomplished diver.
Then, at the University of Florida, Wendy worked even harder and earned the number two spot on the varsity diving team. At the same time, she carried a full academic load and found time for bowling and water-skiing. But perhaps the most remarkable thing about Wendy Stoker is her typing. Would you believe forty-five words a minute -- with her toes? You see, Wendy was born without arms.
Wendy is motivated by a secret ingredient, one of her greatest assets -- desire. With it, one can succeed in spite of overwhelming handicaps. Without it, one is handicapped in spite of overwhelming ability. Desire is a major ingredient in a life that strives to be whole and happy.
even if KU won the NCAA, im pretty sure Roy would have still left us .
His job would have been done in Kansas. he’s been here for 15 years. we soo deserved to win it though!!. he also had family issues going on, so i dont know…
I think i might just go start a Roy appreciation thread…
The scarcity of a resource is what tends to motivate people to go beyond and above their regular regimen. Be it oil to the US, or the lack of arms Wnedy Stoker. Too many comforts make us feel like these are god given rights rather then priviledges.
