Who has Rana's back ?

I am watching Rana for some time now and he is a disaster.
Almost he is the most expensive in every match with little or no wickets.

With such bad stats he is still on the team and also going to World Cup.

Who has his back in PCB ???

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

^ Has he lost his back? Whoever has it in PCB should retrun it immediately. :D

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

lol @ ehsan bhai's reply.

I think Rana has been playing mainly because others were injured. If Shoaib, Umar, Shabbir and Asif were always available, there will be no Rana. And I must say he has somewhat filled in the roles quite well. I mean he is a second string bowler so can't expect too much.

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

Rana has become what Sami was, it looks like Sami in disguise :cb: … Sami was very good post 2003 WC re-building for few series and then he went downhill and rarely showed the ‘talent/potential’ he possesses. Same thing is going on with Rana now :bummer:

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

isn’t there any natural way that Rana can injured himself before 2nd March?

:hmmm:

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

No one has his back...if he did...he wouldn't be making is debut at the age of 28. His domestic record is very impressive, and under waqar Younis he was MOS against WI. Since Waqar's departure, his bowling has went downhill. I'm sure he will bounce back though...he's a terrific ODI bowler, and on the flat pitches of WI, you need bowlers who can bowl yorkers at the death...and I've never seen Asif bowl a good yorker in my life. This is where Akhtar, Gul, and Rana will be required.

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

atleast he can bat.

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

Rana ka career after WC’07

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

I still believe Rana will come good, he is a far better bowler, and I am sure this bad patch will be soon forgotten.

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

At least he is the most consistent of them all
You can bet he will give at least 6 runs per over :-)
The opposition should share the MoM and MOS prize money with him as he contributes equally to their win

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

He wasn't good in England too, Waqar was still there I blv.

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

rana will be back, he has a series where he just gets hammered!Inshallah he will be at his best in WC!

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

for some reason, I get the feeling that things have gone wrong for him since Waqar’s departure… and this may also hold true for our other fast bowlers who may not be getting the right advice from the new bowling coach :smack:

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

Rana has always been a hard working player with little talent but plenty of heart. Being a player with little to offer he sud have been rested after the disapoointing English series, then again that is not the way of things in Pakistan, why blame only Rana when we have free loaders like Akmal.

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

And Rao ...................

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

Yar enough is enough… this is not a bad patch in his career. All the good form was a good patch and now things are back to normal…8/over tu Junaid zia bhee khaa suktaa hey:grumpy:

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

I don,t have his back, anybody else?

Re: Who has Rana’s back ?

I don’t remember Junaid Zia being a bad bowler. In fact, he got something like 3 wickets on his ODI debut. He was said to be the hardest working and most fitness-conscious player in Pakistan cricket. Tauqir Zia resigned partly because he wanted to let his son’s career flourish without the accusations of nepotism.

Rao isn’t a bad bowler either, he may not pick many wickets but bowls a tidy line and length, and is a way better option than Sami.

As for Rana, he has proven how good he can be. He just needs to get his old rhythm back. If Akhtar doesn’t play, then he’s the most experienced bowler in our lineup. He can bowl a very good yorker and can be handy in death overs.

Re: Who has Rana's back ?

Tauqeer Zia resigned because he was asked to resign by the Patron in Chief, Musharraf. Not only did he not practice nepotism shamelessly he was also involved in financial sandals and recent interview of Saleem Altaf with Fakhre Alam also revealed how he drove off with Pcb bought car.

When u compare players u sud use stats not popular emotions, sami has a much better one day track record than many current Pak bowlers.

As for Rana, well like someone rightly said, his good form was the exception while his poor performance is the norm.
