With eid looming up I was just thinking about eid and what we will do this year etc.
What are your family eid traditions? Who gives eidi to who? Or do you give gifts rather than eid money?
In our family as kids growing up my parents would always give us eidi. Now my children are growing up and my hubby gives them eidi, I make sure my sons give eidi to their younger sisters. My hubby will give me eid money too
My parents and brothers give me eidi, my fil asks my hubz to give us all eidi on his behalf which he later sorts out with him as they live in Pakistan.
Girls Do you give eidi to your bhabhis? Girls do you give to your nieces and nephews? What are the rules if any?
Only the guys in my family give Eidi. The girls are not required
I get Eidi from my dad, all my brothers (even the one who’s younger :halo: ), my cousins, my Jeth, my nand’s husband and of course Mr. Husband as well. It’s not a big amount or anything except from dad, jeth and husband.
I usually make goodie bags for the kids in the family - it attracts their attention more and they usually look forward to it. I add candy and some sort of fun little thing to the bag.
I make my son give Eidi to his two girl cousins.
The husband gives Eidi to all the kids in the family and ladies Poor guys.
i get eidi from my mother, father, brothers,sister, BIL, dada(when he was alive), chachi,phuopps,khala, elder married cousins.
my parents send eid gifts for my brother,bhabhi and kids to Uk. and give eid money to the ones who are here. i send eid gifts for my bhabhi and nieces and nephew.
i give Eidi and eid gifts both to my niece and nephew who are here. my sister’s daughter is older than our nephew so my sister made her daughter give eid gifts to our nephew and to all other little cousins of her in her in-laws.
apart from this, any guest who visit our place during Eid with kids, gets eidi.
parents give eid money and eid dresses to all the maids and toys and sweet stuff for their kids.
I get eidi from my dad and his siblings and my moms sibling. Its not much but its so much fun.
I give eidi to my sibling and my daadi. I know it’s a lil odd giving eidi to an elder but my dad and his siblings give eidi to their mom and I’ve started giving it too.. since I started earning. She gets sooo happy getting it and I just love giving it to her!
It’s been long that I haven’t received eidi from anyone except my parents and my taai Amman.
Probably because I’m quite old for eidi now.
However my kids receive eidi from all our extended family on both sides.
My brother is youngest among us siblings… And I’m the eldest do I do like to give eidi to my bhabhi. Coming eid would be the first one for my baby nephew so if course he will also get eidi.
Other than that we give eid I to all kids in family on both sides. My husband being the eldest in his side also gives eidi to his bhabhis.
My uncles and aunts from both sides of the family. I always made a loot because I’m an only child and I always made the equivalent of whatever my parents had given to someone’s multiple children.
I don’t remember ever giving eidi to anyone That’s probably because I don’t have any close family around.
Way back in Pakistan, I remember getting eidi from parents, grandparents, phuphus, khalas, chachus, maamus, etc. Loved collecting eidi. Especially loved the fact that I used to get more than my brothers who are younger.
We usually invite people over on 1st day of Eid and 2nd day we go to someone’s house. So the families who come over give eidi and we give to their kids. It kind of balances out in the end. No profit or loss
I used to give eidi to the kids (nieces and nephews). Then I realized it goes through their parents and might never get to the intended recipients. So now I get them gifts. Or Toys R Us gift cards.
I don’t give eidi coz I don’t have a job. My parents gives us … Relatives live in diff state far away so we don’t actually see them. Eid is pretty boring here
In my family the guy’s give eidi (cash) to all the girls in the family, including sisters and cousins. They come out rich, the guys don’t get anything.
Poor guys.
That’s probably because I don’t have any close family around.
