b2b if you’re open to it, i know our photogs would love to travel. they’re going to amsterdam this year to shoot a wedding! they’re very laidback, you get two photogs not one, and they’re just really nice people. they’re shooting two of my friends weddings too.

taimur doesnt have a 5000$ camera. his pictures are blurry because he does not have enough equipment, just a DSLR and a flash. the kiran wedding was the only wedding he had done, and that too, as an experiment. he got lucky that the wedding was so huge and the pics got so advertised that all of a sudden his demand was created.
works for him i guess. i was interested in hiring him too, considering i absolutely hate all the professional wedding photographers i have met in pakistan or seen portfolios of.
his style compared to the ****heads in pakistan is better because it is photojournalistic.
the problem however is, he understand nothing about shooting in low light, nor composing portraits. another thing to remember, photojournalism doesnt mean you shouldnt edit the photos.
(he doesnt edit the photos at all. arrey bhai, at least reframe the photo.)
i was willing to accept that since i can edit them myself. however his badtameezi and ooh im so good im god attitude was a bit irritating because i am not the average client who knows nothing bout the business. when i told him what i need and when he realized that i meant business and know what i am talking about and looking for, he suddenly decided to blow me off by saying he is booked for 2 other weddings that day!
poor thing. i wish pakistanis in general would learn what the term customer service really means...
flickr has some photographers (i have examined their portfolios extensively) but most people have no clue how to take photos of people, and that too in low light.
some are decent, but most dont know how to control light or improvise. weddings have bad lighting.

i really didn't mean that he have $5000 camera, i just exaggerated to make a point that just because he have a "nice" camera.
and you are right about editting part, people who are going for photography's degree they have to take photo editting class, knowing how to edit a photos is as important as taking it. and of course composition is the major part.
i just visited ur page on flickr, you have taken some nice photos, but i didn't see many portraits in your stream too.
i really like the work of fayyaz ahmed, he have done a great job in portrait shoots. kami syed is another one of my fav. photographer but i don't think he does photography professionally, but he does an amazing job.

they charged us less than that but i think thats cos we got them right before they got so popular.
having said that, i'd still pay them $3500 if i was getting married this year... i think they're worth every penny. in the end, i guess you have to balance the budget and distribute it where its important to you.
what budget are you looking at? are there any good photographers in dubai you could fly in maybe? it would be cheaper than flying them in from toronto.

@ yanzala in particular, but also everyone else. What are your thoughts about Ali Khurshid’s photography? He’s covered a few weddings for friends…
i personally love usman jamshed 's work ..he has this very natural photojournalistic approach.. i am an art student myself ...very much into photography ...mail him for the recent galleries ..he gets back to the client quickly

Btw as for Taimur he uses Canon 5d and canon 85mm f1.2 which is pro gear. He went to Aitchison with me and when he was starting out took some advice from me about which lenses I used e.t.c. At that time he was only doing macro stuff… Anyways, he did not take care to use his gear properly as he was just doing an unpaid gig as a friend to Kiran. He was not a paid photographer. He kept clicking, experimenting and got some great moments in the process without having the pressure of “delivering”. Taking nothing away from him but it was the grandeur of the occasion that was the main thing. And yes, he did not edit or even set the correct WB on any of the shots. Just trigger happy shooting that did capture some great moments but lacked technical finesse.

anyone has any experience of Shuja Hakim ?! he has a page on facebook.. his work looks good but when I contacted him he didn't really have a proper studio ...so am not sure if he's really that professional.
