who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

but be careful..newbes dont count...get someone..who either just graduated...or is about to..

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

i am a photography student too, and trust me doing photojournalism is not easy =(
i have never done a wedding, but i have done some birthday parties and other events like that, they are HARD. but FUN. i just love that kind of photography, not just doing it, but also looking at it too.
it's so much easier to make people pose and press the shutter button, but takign candid shot that actualy mean something is another thing, capturing real facial expression at rukhsati, nikah etc, are just priceless. the point of those kind of photography should be more than taking photos of people, a photographer should capture the special moments, the festive environment. event photos should look live, not dead posed.
who ever did, silsila's wedding (other post) did an amazing job, i wish i can be as good as him.
anyways, once i am done with college (another few years) i will offer my services to all Gupshup members FREE hee.
i wish i can go around taking photos at my own wedding (when ever i will get married hehe)
i am from karachi, but i live in usa, when ever i will have a wedding it will be in karachi, and i don't know anyone from NCA (except ali zafar, but he does't count hehe)

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

Thank you ! I asked earlier are u guys talking about taimur but no one bothered to answer :naraz:

Btw his photography was turned out good because everything from decorations to dresses to jewellary to make up was great, Not much from his part though

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

if i stop making trips to pakistan and take some serious summer classes, i might INSHALLAH get done in two years, but…dua karain hehe

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

umm..some of his photos are even blury, i couldn’t believe it, i mean he is a photographer and all that, he must have a $5000 camera, how could u get a blurry pic, and post it too.
his photography is in photojournalism style but NOT GOOD AT ALL.

so who ever talked to me, what did he said that you guys think was rude??

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

great idea, i also have an account on flickr, i know few of them because we all comment on each others photos. i really like yasir nazir's work (i don't think he does weddings, but he is doing that cricket match which is going on in pak right now, he also does street photograpy and other things and he is really good at it. one is fayyaz ahmed, but i guess he shoot models only)

anyways, i still have a lot of time, i need to find a dulha first then i should worry about photographer he he he

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

When I called him the first time, he qouted me one price. When I called a month later, he had increased his price by 700 dollars!!!!!!! and that too, for a MEHNDI. He was so rude and kept doing his tareefs and how good he is. He had admitted to me earlier than Kiran's wedding was the first and only big wedding he had done. Now he was acting like some hot shot photographer. He wanted to take all the pictures on HIS terms, he didn't want to click relatives or people on stage. He said he wanted his own space and in 2 day event, he would only produce 40-60 QUALITY pictures which sounds bs to me. On top of that, he told me I had to pay for his air ticket as well as put him a five star hotel and I agreed to see what he would say next. I live in a state right next to NY so he called me an hour later (obviously after making plans with his friends in NY) and said, I think I am going to come to NY and then drive to CT for your wedding and then fly out from NY after that... followed by, 'and you would have to pay for my tickets to NY as well as my rental car to CT' Seriously, what the heck???!!!!! I was like look, if you're coming to MY wedding, you better fly to my state and leave from here as well. I am not gonna pay for your little detour and he said he was only doing it cuz he has an 'engagement' to cover in NY. I said ok so then tell them to pay half of your flying expenses and he refused to talk about it. He kept saying what an 'amazing' deal I was getting for so cheap (it was costing more than 2000!!!) and I was like, you're not even a pro, I can get an AWESOME professional photographer for the same amount. I am definitely not hiring him, I can't believe I actually considered him a second time and he was just worse then.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

OMG, he is a horrible photographer, just go to flickr.com there is a pakistani photographer's club they take such amazing photos with their point & shot that i can't even take with my pro camera. and that dude think he is a big shot just because he have done one wedding (as a friend, he wasn't a hired photographer)
his pictures are blurry, light is not good enough, there isn't even one good pic which shows dulhan's dress properly. just some random clicking that turned out good becuase of his pro camera.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

i am so mad at him after reading you posts shay. i went back to his album and he is not even close to good photography, just compare those photos to silsila’s photos in other post (i love her wedding’s photography

idea of candid shot is good, but it shouldn’t be as random

my teacher will fail me if i turn in a pic like that BLURRY

poor framing skills, where is the top part of her head

pathetic skin tones, too yellow, any average photographer would have changed the white balance to produce a natural skin tones

again, blurry and horrible light

do i need to say anything

checkout the hand on left hand corner. if he was any better he would have atleast cropped that photo a little

what’s up with showing all that space above and the subject is lost somewhere

yellow skin tone, does this guy know how to change white balance.

no comments

too much distraction

horrible ligh, blurry.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

^thanks! the only reason his pictures came out the way they did were because of the colorful events this girl had and his lenses. he couldn't stop boasting about what an amazing, professional, in demand photographer he is and how he's doing me some huge favor by ONLY charging 2k. noone is gonna put up with his nakhras, he still has a long way to go when it comes to pictures.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

the only reason people are looking in to those photos in 1. people like to look at wedding photos, they are always interesting, 2. those photos have a lot of celebrities.
i don't think he have good lenses, any average image stabilizer lens cost around $500 to $700 would give a sharp pic, but most of his pics are blurry that means he doesn't have good lenses.
and does he not know how to fix white balance to make colors look less yellow?? any $100 camera have that feature.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

You're right.. but even he was a good photographer and took amazing pictures, his attitude is just so horrible! That is no way to build up a clientele especially if you're new. Gloating about your not so obvious talent, and constant reminders of what a cheap deal they are getting from you is such a throw off. I spoke to atleast 40 'american' photographers before narrowing down to a couple, and despite of being super pro and quite expensive, none of them ever gave me any kind of attitude like this one did.

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

so what is the average cost of wedding photography in america??

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

his work looks really bad. that wedding could have looked so much more gorgeous with a good photographer because that girl and her events and her outfit are simply STUNNING!

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

anywhere between 1000-10,000$

Re: who does photojournalism style wedding photos in pak??

taimur doesnt have a 5000$ camera.
his pictures are blurry because he does not have enough equipment, just a DSLR and a flash. the kiran wedding was the only wedding he had done, and that too, as an experiment. he got lucky that the wedding was so huge and the pics got so advertised that all of a sudden his demand was created.

works for him i guess.
i was interested in hiring him too, considering i absolutely hate all the professional wedding photographers i have met in pakistan or seen portfolios of.

his style compared to the ****heads in pakistan is better because it is photojournalistic.

the problem however is, he understand nothing about shooting in low light, nor composing portraits. another thing to remember, photojournalism doesnt mean you shouldnt edit the photos.

(he doesnt edit the photos at all. arrey bhai, at least reframe the photo.)

i was willing to accept that since i can edit them myself.
however his badtameezi and ooh im so good im god attitude was a bit irritating because i am not the average client who knows nothing bout the business.
when i told him what i need and when he realized that i meant business and know what i am talking about and looking for, he suddenly decided to blow me off by saying he is booked for 2 other weddings that day!

poor thing. i wish pakistanis in general would learn what the term customer service really means...

flickr has some photographers (i have examined their portfolios extensively) but most people have no clue how to take photos of people, and that too in low light.

some are decent, but most dont know how to control light or improvise. weddings have bad lighting.
