who can beat Lara?

Ponting is a just a jealous piece of crap. Lara broke an Aussie's record to get his record back, thats why all of a sudden Lara is "selfish." Wasn't it the same Ponting who said a few weeks ago that Dravid should have let Tendulkar get his double centuary when Dravid declared and Tendulkar was on 194? The decleration for the team, and now all of sudden Ponting is saying this. I guess Ponting knows that he himself or his Aussie's are capable of doing what lara did...and I think record will remain for a very very long time.

dravid doesnt have the guts....he himself said that he needs 6 days of test cricket to score 400...

i reckon, the only player to ever break the 400 record (from the list of current players) is the very same man who scored 375 and 400....btw, will he need another 10 years to break this record...

Windies’ next assignment is Bangladesh at home.

Between, read this . Very good article.

IMO the most important thing to break this record is that the batsman shud have appetite/ temprament for runs even after 300. Also he must be stroke player not a slogger, also I think chances are much when a compatetively weak team playing against a better team in the 1st or second innings. ie they are playing to save the match rather than win. Coz if a strong team is playing they will never allow a batsman to play for so long unless this is the first innign of the match and the batsman is playing very fast.

So I think lara is the only one who can do this. of course ponting and hayden have all the talent to do this but they will not get a chance to do this.

As for tedi i think he will not be able to do so.

why do u give me creeps that he is gonna score 500 this time…

why forgetting Inzamam-ul-Haq for his 329?

  • only the tactical genious himslef lara can break his record knock of 400* i don't think any other circketer will break it... *

Why would Lara be in a hurry to break his own record? 400 is more than enough.

One needs to be a great batsman as well as captain of his side (and be very selfish too) to be able to play for that long. Its hardly likely to happen. Haydens, Dravids and Tendus of the world may have the temperament and the potential to do it, but they won't get the opportunity. Ponting is right to an extent.
