Re: whitening teeth?
A whitening toothpaste won't whiten your teeth, but it will work in lifting staining and discolouration on your teeth. I use a whitening toothpaste and I am always being asked what toothpaste I use! If your in the UK, you could try what I use - its Colgate Total plus whitening. Use it two times a day and you should notice a difference.
You must understand though that this will not whiten your teeth like professional whitening will but it will work to lift the 'yellowing' that you have.
get laser teeth whitening treatment from Pakistan the next time you go. I sufferred from hepatitis which is the most probable cause of my teeth becoming yellow... When we went on vacation to Pakistan in 2007, I got laser whitening done for 10,000 rupees which is like 100 euro... so its not that bad... there were two sessions (within a week) and it worked wonders... Your teeth will be SUPER sensitive for about a day and a half... but its worth it...
PS: The dentist was a family friend so he asked for 10,000 rupees off me, but he usually charges 16,000 rupees.
If you don't want to do that, try rubbing baking soda on your teeth twice a day... never tried it but i heard it works?
Strawberries are supposed to work as well...
Re: whitening teeth?

cool,. how long to notice results, and how long do you brush for? a minute twice a day?
Re: whitening teeth?
I do not think you should try any extreme stuff given you are pregnant.....
Toothpaste should work for you....and the recommended brushing time by the dentists is 2 mins twice a day....That's how long it takes to brush all around ur mouth....

Hydrogen Peroxide is not very safe to be used on your teeth. Hydrogen Peroxide CAN NOT be ingested/swallow - it can be extremely harmful!
That being said, peroxide CAN chemically whiten teeth because it acts as a bleaching agent. However, it also destroys the mucus lining of the mouth

I brush for around 2 to 3 minutes twice a day, and I floss once daily.
i heard the baking soda tip from another family friend, she's a dentist but she doesn't practice... she didn't mention hydrogen peroxide, she just said mix a spoon of baking soda with lemon juice to make a paste and then rub this on your teeth twice a day for like 2 minutes.... that should work... i didn't test it nor try it so i dunno...

Hmmm very interesting..maybe I should try that!
Did you find that after the first few days of sensitivity, your teeth went completely back to normal?
Re: whitening teeth?
Interesting thread.
Whitening tooth pastes do not work and neither do any type of whitening powders. If you want whiter teeth get them done profesionally.
In the UK it costs around £400-£500 to get an in house treatment where you go in and get your teeth done there and there. If you want to opt for a cheaper alternative it costs about £250-£300 depending on where you go and where abouts you live. The latter takes about 2 weeks in order to see the results and you get given a kit to take home.
How do I know all this? My dentist told me
She’s Pakistani and whenever I go in we have random conversations ![]()

right ater the laser treatment they were so sensitive, i couldn't even breathe through my mouth coz the air would irritate my teeth... my mouth kept getting watery... good thing the laser was done in the evening so i had eaten most of my meals beforehand... after the treatment i just drank juice ... the next day they were still sensitive but i did eat ... the third day they were back to normal..
