Brides in the US have now started wearing off-white instead of white. But there are still virgin brides in the US. I have met some of them.
It's not really the concept of virginity or purity per se. A girl who has sex before marriage is not a slut. However, a girl who sleeps around, and a culture which promotes that kind of lifestyle, in the name of "sexual freedom" and "anything goes" i think is very wrong. If white is strictlly reserved for the virginity aspect of a bride, then most, if not all, south asian brides would be wearing white on their wedding day, coz apparently that's our most valuable asset. ANyway, before i derail this thread that i started...nice pix!! luv the first white n gold gown :D
Sara, the colours also reflect culture… in the west red symobolises danger whereas in many aisan countries it means power, fertility etc..
these days its not really about who reserves the right to wear white or not… its become culture :k:

My nephew married a French Canadian gal and she wore a white lehnga....heavily embroidered. I don't think that any other colour would have done her justice.
